Note 5 Only Charges Using Wireless Charger

Problem: My phone is charging properly through the wireless charger but not through the cable. I have tried with different chargers (original and third party) and nothing happened. The only way that sometimes works is when the battery is fully depleted. I connect the cable and starts to charge again for few days. Then the problem appears again. Thanks in advance for your help

Solution: Since you have tried different chargers you should also try using different charging cords as the one you are using might be causing the problem. Make sure to clean the charging port using a can of compressed air before charging the phone since dust or debris stuck in this port can interfere with the charging process.

If the above steps fail then you should check if the phone charges when it is off. If it does then this might be a software related problem which should be fixed by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Green Light Lit But Display Is Black

Problem: I tried everything such holding volume up +home + power buttons for 30 seconds, and also tried holding the volume down + power buttons for 30 seconds… nothing worked. I woke up today to a black screen phone, no vibrations, only the green light of 100 % stays lit, but no other reactions. please help.

Solution: So basically trying a simulated battery pull and trying to boot into recovery mode doesn’t work. What you can do right now is to try to charge the phone for at least 20 minutes. When charging your device follow the steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone first using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris that might be stuck in this port.
  • Charge the phone using a charging cord that is known to work. If necessary try using different charging cords.
  • Try charging your phone using a different wall charger.
  • Try charging the phone using the USB port of your computer.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Shuts Off Constantly

Problem: My phone shuts itself off CONSTANTLY. I have drained the battery to zero and then plugged in the charger several times. I constantly have to reboot by pushing the buttons on both sides. NOTHING works. HELP!!!!

Solution: Try checking if the phone software is causing this problem by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete don’t install anything in your phone yet. Try to check first if the problem still occurs. If it does then this might already be a hardware related issue. You should then have this phone checked at a service center.

Note 5 Issues With Charging

Problem: Hi. I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 Note which I have had for around eleven months. Recently, I have been having issues with charging. I purchased a new charger, and it has worked well for my mother, who has a Samsung Galaxy S4. I’m not sure as to why this is happening, because wireless charging as well as other people’s chargers work fine. It must be the charging cable, yes?

Solution: There are two likely reasons why this issue is happening. There could be an issue with the charging cord that you are using or with your phone charging port. Try using a different charging cord and see if this fixes the problem. To troubleshoot the charging port what you can do is to clean it using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port as this could cause charging problems.

If the problem still persists then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Stuck In Wipe Cache Partition

Problem: The device was randomly power cycling about every 3 to 4 minutes. I followed the instructions for wipe cache partition. Now the screen is frozen on that part. Cannot get it to do anything it’s a brick with the wipe cache partition highlighted.

Solution: Try forcing the phone to restart by pressing and holding the power button and volume down key for at least 10 seconds. If this doesn’t work then attempt to access the recovery mode again. If you are able to access this mode then do a factory reset. Make sure that you have a backup of your phone data before doing the reset.

If the above steps fail to work then you should wait for the battery to be fully drained. Once it is drained and the phone has turned off proceed with charging it. Try turning on your phone as soon as the battery has sufficient charge.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Continuously Shuts Off

Problem: Hi  My Note 5 is continuously shuts off, sometimes reboots and sometimes freezes as well. I am tired of wiping cache memory, factory reset kind of stuffs. Still not solved the issue. I have reset the phone three times. Obviously I am installing some apps as well. I don’t know what is the real issue. Please help. Thanks

Solution: Try doing another round factory reset but this time don’t install any app once the reset has completed. Check if the phone still shuts off. If it does then this could be caused by an internal component that is failing to work. I suggest that you have this checked at a service center.

  1. I have a Note 5 with Bent Pins in the Charging Port. I have been using with wireless fast chargers per Samsungs advice. My phone now isnt charging at all. A local shop said my NFC is working but they didnt have a battery to test it. I have went into Recovery mode and done a hard reset. I have about 30 percent before it is dead and no way to charge it . Any advice on what else to try before it dies?
