S5 Does Not Receive Text Message

Problem: My phone occasionally does not receive texts. It’s completely random and happens whether I have good service or not. It’s not that I receive them but can’t open them; rather, I never receive them. This occurs no matter what phone is texting me, or what service provider they have.

Related Problem: I am having issues with my phone not receiving some texts. There are times when I do not receive texts that someone sends me and then there are times like just now when I only receive 1 of 2 texts that someone sends me. I’ve tried to adjust my phone settings, restart my phone, take the battery out, nothing works. It seems that it happens with texts from both androids and iPhones, so I’m not sure what the issue is, I haven’t had my phone for very long that it should be messing up already.

Related Problem: Galaxy s5 will not receive Iphone text messages – especially in group texts.  I’ve done everything I’ve needed to do to deactivate my imessage link to my phone number.  I switched from an iphone to android in  February and still can’t find a fix to this text messaging issue.  It’s insane that I cannot receive text messages from iphone users.  I tell them to send texts as SMS but not all users are savvy and know how to do this or do it.

Solution: If you previously used an iPhone then you should first deregister from the iMessage service as this is usually what’s causing the problem. Your friend’s who are using iPhone’s will end you a text message via iMessage however the S5 doesn’t recognize an iMessage resulting in the message not being received.

The quickest way to deregister from the iMessage service is by going to this link https://selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage/.

If you are still not receiving text messages on the device then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Check that the phone has the correct APN settings and that you have an active mobile data subscription.
  • Try starting the phone in Safe Mode. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the issue still occurs even after performing the steps listed above then you should try using another SIM card in your phone or contact your carrier regarding any possible network issues that could cause this problem.

S5 Not Sending Or Receiving MMS

Problem: I have a Samsung galaxy s5 from verizon. I recently got a Walmart family starter kit under t-mobile network. It’s under my dad’s plan. I got everything going so I thought I’m having problems with getting my mms and or picture messages In or out. My Internet is working I set that up with the apn and went fine now I just can’t seem to send picture or mms messages or receive them either. I need help on what to do did I maybe forget or not put in the right info with the t-mobile apn or? Please help ASAP I’ve been dealing with this for a while I just want the phone to work like any other one calls messages Internet all that work properly.

Solution: If your mobile Internet is working then the APN settings of your phone are most likely correct. This issue might be caused by the messaging app. Try clearing the cache and data of the messaging app then check if the issue still occurs. I also suggest that you try sending and receiving an MMS when the phone is started in Safe Mode. This way you can check if the problem is caused by an app you downloaded.

Another option that you can try is to use a third party messaging app to send or receive an MMS. If you are not able to send or receive an MMS then the problem could be with the APN settings. Try to double check these settings.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S5 Can’t Send Or Receive Multimedia Messages After Software Update

Problem: After I updated my Samsung Galaxy 5 to marshmallow I can’t send or receive multimedia messages. That’s bad because all the group messages change automatically to multimedia and when I try to read those appears a download button but it doesn’t work

Solution: It’s very likely that the APN settings of your phone might have changed during the update. Compare the settings of your phone to the one your carrier is using. Make the necessary APN settings changes in your phone if needed. You should also make sure to have an active mobile data subscription and make sure to turn on the mobile data switch of your phone.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
