Note 5 Will Not Charge

Problem: I went to charge my phone before bed one night when I noticed that the phone wouldn’t charge through the cable. I left the phone connected to the cable over the night and when I woke up my phone had 71% battery. When I looked at the battery life history I noticed that my phone had died and was charging when it was powered off but not to a full charge. My phone still will not charge using the micro USB cable, even when I leave it alone for hours. I have tried cleaning the port with compressed air and using different cables and adapters that work with other Samsungs in my household but to no avail.

Solution: Try checking if your phone can charge via the USB port of your computer. If it charges then there could be a problem with the charging port of your phone. If the phone doesn’t charge then the problem could be caused by a malfunctioning power IC. Before bringing the phone to a service center for checking try doing a factory reset first to eliminate any possible software related glitches that could be causing this problem. Make sure to backup your phone data first before doing the reset.

Note 5 Not Powering Up

Problem: Hi DroidGuy! My Note 5 is not powering up. I tried connecting it to my wall charger but it wont charge, also there is no led indication that it is charging. However, i tried using my charger to a different samsung phone and it works fine, so i know that my charger is not the problem. I remember giving the phone a full charge before leaving the office. I was also able to send a couple of texts before it wont turn on. Please help, i cannot find a fix to this. Things i tried: -Leaving it connecting to a charger for a couple of hours. -Pressing the volume up button and the home key, the volume down button and the home key. It would be nice to hear back from you asap. Thanks alot!

Solution: Try cleaning the charging port of your phone first using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port gets removed as this could cause charging problems. Next, charge the phone using a different charging cord and charger for at least 20 minutes. After charging try turning on your phone. Id it does not turn on then try accessing the recovery mode.

If you are able to access the recovery mode of your phone then you should do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before doing the reset.

If you are unable to access the recovery mode then this could already be caused by a malfunctioning internal component. I recommend bringing your phone to a service center and having it checked.

Note 5 Not Charging With Power Bank

Problem: I have a portable backup battery charger for my phone it used to work great, especially when i am on long plane flights & needed some extra ‘juice’ recently it stopped accepting the battery pack charge i thought it was the battery pack & bought a new one but the problem persists any suggestions?

Solution: Try using a different charging cord when using the power bank as the charging cord usually causes this type of problem. You should also clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air to remove any dirt or debris that could be stuck in this port as this can interfere with the charging process.

If the problem persists then check the output power rating of the power bank that you are using. It’s best if the output is rated at 2.1A since it will charge the phone quicker.

You should also check if your phone is able to charge using the computer USB port. If it can’t charge using the USB of your computer then the problem could be caused by the charging port of your phone. If this is the case then you should have your phone checked at a service center.

Note 5 Does Not Fast Charge

Problem: Sir i have note 5 n920v model so sit my issue is that last 15 ago my fast charging suddenly stop and i used lot of trick like used other s7 edge original charger and lead. Also reset my phone but that issue still i am facing now my note 5 is take 5 hour to fully charge. So sir please help me how can i fix that issue that make me mad of took 5 hour to fully charge.

Solution: You should try cleaning the charging port of your phone. Use a can of compressed air and make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed. Should the problem persist then we could be looking at a faulty battery. I recommend that you have your phone checked at a service center if this is the case.

Note 5 Not Starting Since Keyboard Not Working

Problem: Hello. I have a huge problem with my galaxy note 5. So I didn’t have much space left on my phone and I went to a concert. But I forgot to clear up some space in order to take photos and videos at the concert. And I took a few photos and videos so the memory got full and my phone just kept crashing every application I was trying to use and especially the keyboard. I keep getting the message “Unfortunately, the keyboard has stopped working.”  So when I got home I thought that it would help if I connected my phone to my laptop to take off some photos and videos, in order to have free space again. BUT this procedure was really really long, and it seemed like it would never finish copying. So I canceled and tried again but the same thing happened. So I decided to turn my phone off and on again, BUT I completely forgot that when restarting you cannot use fingerprints to unlock your phone and you have to enter a password. So now I can’t enter a password as my keyboard doesn’t show up at all and I can’t unblock my phone. I can’t connect it to my laptop either as it has to be unlocked first. So I’m really really lost right now I don’t know what to do. Please if you have any useful information please help me. I don’t want to do a factory reset as the note 5 doesn’t have support memory and I would lose e-ve-ry-thing.  Thank you.

Solution: Since a factory reset is not an option then there are two things that you can do right now to fix this problem.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. When your phone works in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. Your keyboard might work in this mode if the problem is caused by an app you downloaded. If the issue doesn’t occur in this mode then proceed with the data backup.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This will erase the system cached data which could be causing the problem.
