Note 4 Turns Off On Its Own

Problem: Hi, My phone (Galaxy Note 4) had recently turn off on its own at and this had progress to not restarting unless I performed a soft reset. I have changed the battery and the condition had only improved for a day before the whole shut down things happen again. While the phone was on in safe mode, I had also clear some apps in hope of this may allow me to turn on the phone in normal mode, after which the phone continue to on in safe mode. But the phone shuts down again when left idle. Battery charging screen can no longer be seen in shut down and I tried soft reset again but there was totally no response on the phone. Can anyone help me with this or is this the end for my phone already? Please let me know. Thank you.

Solution: For this particular issue I would recommend that you do a factory reset. This will allow you to check if some glitch in the phone software is causing the problem. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset has completed don’t install anything in your phone yet. Try to observe first if the issue still occurs. If it does then the problem could be caused by a faulty power IC. If this is the case then I suggest that you have your phone checked at a service center that’s capable of doing board level repairs.

Note 4 Freezes When Powered On

Problem: Good day! I’ve been reading all the Note 4 problems on your page but I haven’t seen anything like mine yet. A week ago, my phone started to act sluggish and hangs whenever I power it on. It hangs for a few seconds until it works again. The following days, it became worse. While it is off, it started to vibrate once then when I click the power button, the screen remains black. Although there are moments when it remained black with the normal notification light flashing. When the screen lights up, instead of me scanning my fingerprint, it asked for my backup password, which only happens when you reboot the phone. This happened a lot in a day. There are also instances when it shuts down on its own and it doesn’t boot up unless I remove the battery. Thinking that it’s a firmware related problem, I tried flashing different firmwares for Note 4 (EVR and BAL). At first run, it’s all normal but after a few minutes, the problem still persists. I have to change back my firmware because I know it was hopeless. I’ve been through a lot of flashing and even used samsung kies but everytime I flash a firmware from Kies, the phone says mmc_read fail or the WRITE FAIL message. One thing I’ve noticed is that whenever I leave my phone off and power it on for a few minutes, the hanging happens or the rebooting/shutdown happens. I cannot predict which one would take place but mostly it’s the shutting down and removing the battery is needed to power it on again. I tried charging it once after a full shutdown and it doesn’t work at all. I also tried recovery mode after putting the battery back and all it showed me was fail to boot mmc_read fail. I remove and return the battery a few more times before the phone works again. I am really worried about my phone. I don’t want to go to any repair center yet because I am still hoping there might be a way for me to solve it on my own. I hope you can help me with this, Droid Guy. Thank you!

Solution: This appears to be a hardware issue already caused by a faulty internal component. As for what particular component we really can’t say unless the phone is examined properly. The possible suspects however are a faulty  power IC, eMMC failure, or even a bad battery. Try replacing the battery with a new one first. If the issue persist then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center.

Note 4 Does Not Turn On

Problem: hello, have an issue with my note 4 (SM-N910V) I bought from ebay. When i insert the battery automatically the led green turn on, then I try to turn on the device but the phone doesn’t respond so I took the battery and insert in another phone and it works (80% of charge) and I also interchange the other battery but the phone makes the same  just turn on the led green (permanently) but the phone doesn’t respond. would you know what is the reason ? I tried to hard reset (hold 3 buttons) but doesn’t work too. Please help what options can I do. Thanks

Solution: Try reinserting back the battery to your phone then attempt to start it in recovery mode. If the phone works in this mode then you should do a factory reset. If however the same issue occurs even in recovery mode or if the phone can’t enter recovery mode then you might want to contact the eBay seller regarding this matter. If the phone doesn’t have any warranty then have it checked at a service center as this could already be caused by a hardware issue.

Note 4 Vibrating Restarting On Its Own

Problem: I OWN A SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 4 AND Thursday night it just started vibrating and restarting on its own. Looping is what some have referred to it doing. I tried a new battery and took it to a tech. The tech said it appears that it crashed during an update and it won’t do a restart or a reboot. Essentially he said it’s a brick of a phone now and nothing can be done. Is this true? It’s not even 2 years old and I have lost all of my contact, pictures, etc, because I of course didn’t back the phone up. But, it would be nice to be able to salvage my $700 phone if possible. Is there any hope for me?

Solution: If the phone software got corrupted during a software update then the best way to fix this problem is to flash the phone with its updated firmware file. You will need a copy of the specific firmware file for your phone as well as a computer software called Odin. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.

Note 4 Keeps Crashing And Lagging Since Software Update

Problem: Phone keeps crashing and lagging since software update, have changed the battery for a new one still has the same issue so tried to do the clear cache option on the restart and it came up with installing update! Then after a couple of mins the boot menu came up so I cleared the cache and restarted the phone also it seems to crash if someone sends me an email/text/whatsapp/call while it’s standing by it also seems to have trouble unlocking and will just restart. The phone is 25 months old and was going to be retired for a note 7 but we all know what happened to that, I want to hold out for the next note but feel like I should just junk this one and get a new handset even though I don’t really fancy any of the options, it’s driving me crazy.

Solution: Whenever issues occur right after a software update the primary suspect is old software data that hasn’t been completely removed during the update process. This old data causes a conflict with the new software version resulting in various issues including the one you are experiencing right now. What you need to do to fix this problem is to do a factory reset. This will effectively remove the old software data. You should however backup your phone data before doing the reset as this will also be erased in the process.

Note 4 Keeps On Vibrating The Reboots

Problem: Hi there. I have a note 4 and all the sudden today, when it was on, it started vibrating over and over so I hit restart and now all it keeps doing is rebooting itself to the Samsung screen then turns off, vibrates 2 times then reboots again. It does this over and over. It will charge tho. I’ve done the soft reboot and I also cache cleaned it and reset it as well and it’s still not powering on! Please help me!

Solution: Have you tried checking if the issue occur when your phone is connected to its charger? If the problem doesn’t occur then it could be caused by a faulty battery. I suggest that you replace this battery. If the problem occurs even when the phone is connected to its charger then this could already be caused by an internal component that is failing to work. I recommend that you have your phone checked at a service center if this is the case.

Note 4 Battery Drains Very Quickly

Problem: Hello. Pls tell me what can I do I don’t want to sell my handset…at first I thought it is my phone’s battery issue so I purchased a battery but it still doing same…I charged the new one and then after connecting to Internet within 5 min it was shut down and when I restarted it it showed me the charging as 0%. And sometimes it gets off at 30% charging. Even the battery drains out so fast. It seems like there’s is no issue with battery as the new one still showing the same problem or what do u think is there any hardware issue? Is there any tip I can do at home? Pls reply

Solution: What you will need to do first in this particular case is to verify if the new battery that you got is indeed working properly. To do this you should test it in another phone. You should also try using a different battery in your device.

Once you have made sure that the battery is not causing the problem the next step is to check if a glitch in the phone software is the culprit. To do this you will have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete don’t install any app in your phone yet. Try to check first if the problem still occurs. If it does then you will have to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Keeps On Restarting

Problem: hello, i have Samsung Note 4 with me. it working really well, but since last month i have noticed when i use to play some video song or some video content for long time, sometimes it starts restarting on and on from boot screen until i plugged in charger. when i plugged in the charger it starts normal.. but it happens when the battery level is around 35~40%..  do i need to change battery?

Solution: If your phone restarts after using power hungry apps for awhile then your phone might already have a weak battery. You should definitely ty using a new battery on your phone and see if this fixes the problem.

Note 4 Do Not Turn Off Target Is Downloading Error

Problem: Hello, My note 4 has been recently freezing and restarting at random times. The problem is bad, when restarting it will go into boot mode and say, “DO NOT TURN OFF,  TARGET IS DOWNLOADING” I turn it off, and it goes into the load up mode, and the AT&T powers up, but it stays stuck on the AT&T load screen, and the phone will not load. Also if it does load, the fingerprint lock screen will not work, it will go on swipe for whatever reason.

Related Problem: Its been 2 weeks since my phone has been shutting off and turning back on its own. It constantly gets frozen. but today the screen says could not do normal reboot and downloading do not turn off target. It’s been like that for hours. I already took of the battery and sim card but it’s still like that

Solution: The best way to fix this issue is to start the phone in recovery mode then from here you will have to wipe the cache partition of the device. Restart the phone then check if the problem still occurs. If it does then you will have to start the phone in recovery mode again then perform a factory reset. Take note that this reset will erase your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before proceeding with this.
