Note 4 Can Receive Text But Not Send

Problem: changed from Verizon to Walmart Family Plan. Phone is unlocked and has new sim. I can receive text messages but not send them. I also changed the APN settings to Walmart or T Mobile. Just tried a Factory reset and didn’t help. i also tried to dial the number to change to t mobile message center but nothing popped up. is there another way in? also i’m not able to log into my internet outside of wife can you help me with that as well.

Solution: To be able to send out a text message you have to make sure that your phone has the correct message center number setting.  For Walmart Family Plan this number is +12063130004. You can verify if your phone has this setting by following the steps listed below.

  • Tap Messages.
  • Tap the menu icon.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap Text messages.
  • Tap Message centre.

If the message center number is correct and you can’t send out a text message then you need to check the Family Control Setting of your plan as you might be restricted from sending out a text message.

Regarding the Internet issue that you are having I’m assuming that you are unable to go online while outside Wi-Fi range. This might be because your phone doesn’t have the correct APN settings.

Note 4 Not Getting Some Text Messages

Problem: I have recently swapped phones. I used to have an IPhone 5 I now have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4. The problem I’ve just found was that I’m not getting SOME of my text messages and equally so my friends are not getting SOME of mine. It doesn’t happen all the time sometimes I will get a text from Clare for example and sometimes I don’t and we’ve sat next to each other and tried this. I’ve already Googled this problem and it says to put the sim back in the old phone and turn off I-messenger which I have done but it has not resolved the problem. Please can you help?

Solution: Try using the deregister website of Apple to turn off your iMessage as it looks like the messages that you are not receiving are sent as iMessages. To do this just go to https://selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage. You will need to enter your phone number here.

If you already have iMessage turned off and you still can’t get some texts then ty starting your phone in Safe Mode and check if the same issue occurs. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the issue occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Text Message Sent Not Received By Other Party

Problem: I have scrolled through your site a couple of times but have yet to see the specific issue that my wife and I are experiencing.  In September both of us received an update of sorts.  After this update, sometimes our text messages would not be received by the receiving party, but we have no way of knowing if the individual did get it but ignored it, or did not get it at all.  Also, images fail, every time.  I can long hold the ! next to the picture and it will usually download. This method does not work for my wife’s phone though.  Any help would be great. Thank you

Solution: If this issue occurred right after a software update then there’s a big possibility that it is caused by some old software data that got left behind during the update process. This old data is now causing a conflict with the new software version resulting in this issue. What you need to do is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete make sure to check the APN settings of your phone and make sure that it matches your network settings.
