Samsung Galaxy S6 Fast Charging Not Working Issue & Other Related Problems

Several smartphone models today have a fast charging feature that allows the device to be quickly charged. This is an advantage since it means less time for the phone to be connected to the charger and more time for it to be carried around. For the #Samsung #Galaxy #S6 the adaptive fast charging charger must be used in order to take advantage of this feature. There are however instances when even if the phone owner is already using this type of charger the phone does not fast charge. This is what we will tackle today as we address the Galaxy S6 fast charging not working issue & other related problems.

S6 Fast Charging Not Working

Problem: Have a Galaxy S6. When charging it used to show the words “Fast Charging” for about 1 year. Then all of the suddenly it only display “Cable Charging” and this charge very slow as normal charging takes about 5-6 hours. For fast charging used to be only takes about 45 mins. Note: this issue happened not too long after the new update. I tried many other chargers and still not Fast Charging, only normal charging is working. I’m not sure which android version but it’s the latest one in around August 2016. The setting is seen checked as Fast Charging on the phone too.

Related Problem:  Hi, I’ve been using my S6 for 1.5 years and currently experiencing minor charging issues. I’ve been looking around on the forum but could not find people with the same problem as me. My phone charged fine with the fast charging mode. However, when I turned the fast charging mode on, the phone cannot be charged. I first thought it was the cable or adapter issues, so I bought a new charging set from samsung. But, the problem still occurs. Any idea how to fix this issues?

Solution: There are several things that you need to check in order to determine why the phone isn’t fast charging. Before doing any troubleshooting I recommend that you clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air first. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris that’s in this port as this could interfere with the charging process.

Follow the steps listed below to fix this issue. Move to the next step should the issue still remain after performing a step.

  • Try using a different charging cord. This cord gets easily damaged especially if it is constantly coiled or bent and the one you are using might be causing this problem.
  • Try using a different adaptive fast charger. You can also use a Quick Charge 2.0 certified charger
  • To check if the update is causing this problem I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the issue still occurs after performing the steps listed above then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Normal Charging Takes Too Long

Problem: I’m using a Galaxy S6. Whenever I turn off the fast charging mode, and use the original cable and plug given, charging my phone takes an extremely long time. (Typically 6 hours for 40%) Is there any way to fix this?

Solution: You will have to perform similar troubleshooting steps as the issue we have addressed above. The first thing you have to do is to clean the phone’s charging port. The reason behind this is that dirt or debris that’s stuck in this port can interfere with the charging process. Next, try to isolate the charger as this might be causing the problem. Use a different charging cord then check if the phone charges normally. Try also to use a different wall charger. If the problem persists then proceed with checking the phone itself. For now what you can do is to check if the phone software is causing the problem. Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset do not install any apps yet in your phone. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then the problem could be caused by an issue with the charging port of your phone or battery. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

S6 Water Damaged Works When Connected To Charger

Problem: My Samsung galaxy s6 has water damage for almost 3 months now. It didn’t work at all. But now when I put it in the charger it works after 20 min! But when I put it out, it will shut down. What is this and can I do something about it?

Solution: This is very likely a hardware related issue already that’s caused by either a defective component in the phone or a faulty battery caused by contact with water. The best way to assess the exact cause of this problem is to have the phone examined at a service center that can perform board level repairs.

S6 Turns Off When Not Connected To Charger

Problem: Hi, My samsung s6 suddenly turn off when I unplugged the battery.  I’ve tried to restart it by press the volume up & down button and screen off button at the same time,  previously it worked when I had the same problem. but now it doesn’t work anymore. the LED light keep turn on, but it doesn’t blink.

Solution: Does the phone only turn on when it is connected to a charger? If it does then the problem could be caused by faulty or weak battery. Since this phone has a non-user removable battery I suggest you have this checked at a service center.

S6 Not Turning On

Problem: my galaxy s6 won’t turn on and charge  after I left it on charging for about 20 min , then I looked at it , it’s very hot and not charged , I turned it off , and after a few minute I try to turn it on , but it won’t turn on

Solution: For this issue you need to simulate a battery pull first. To do this just press and hold both the power key and volume down key for at least 10 seconds. The phone should restart after this. If it doesn’t restart then try the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris gets removed.
  • Charge your phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • Try to turn on your phone.

If the issue still occurs then I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Not Reaching 100% Charge

Problem: My samsung Galaxy s6 for past few days won’t charge beyond 89%, I use the original fast adapted plug and at 89% it states 1 minute until fully charges however it just doesn’t reach to 100.

Solution: There are three things that needs to be checked in this particular situation. These are the charger, the phone hardware, and the phone software.

Before doing any troubleshooting I recommend that you clean the charging port of your phone first using a can of compressed air as dirt or debris stuck in this port can usually cause this kind of problem.

  • Charger: Try using a different charger and charging cord. This allows you to easily check if the charger is causing the problem.
  • Phone: Right now what you can do is check if the phone software is causing this problem. For this you need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete try to check if the issue still occurs.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then I recommend that you have the battery checked at a service center.
