S5 Blocking System Update
Problem: Good morning. I have a Samsung S5 phone which was ATT unlocked and I now use Straight Talk. However…. Every few months I get a notice on my phone that an AT&T update is available. Last time I ignored it as long as I could and then it took over and updated my phone with me having no way to stop it. It took me HOUR to figure out how to change everything back to Straight Talk. Now the darn notice has come up again. My question: How do I block AT&T from updating my phone?
Solution: Try opening the phone Settings then go to the About Phone section. If the auto update has a check mark then uncheck it.
If the above doesn’t work then the best way to deal with this issue is to root your phone. Once your phone is rooted you won’t be getting any official software updates anymore. Take note that if you want to update your phone in the near future you will have to do it manually by flashing the phone software or by unrooting your phone so as to automatically get the updated phone software again.
S5 Stuck In Samsung Logo After Changing Build.Prop Name
Problem: hello everyone, i contact you because i really have a bad situation here, i buy a new galaxy s5 G900T today, yes just today 1/ i download ES FILE EXPLORER on my samsung s5 2/ i enter to device and system and changed “build.prop” file to “xbuild.prop” file it mean i just rename it ,then i shutdown my phone because i remember that i have an SD card ,so i turn off the phone, put my SD card and i open it again but the screen stop on just “SAMSUNG galaxy s5” and “powered by android” please help me, i’m bugging you to help me , i just buy it today so please i’ll be very very very glad if you help me please
Solution: Editing the build.prop file of the phone ( even renaming it) usually ends up in the device being bricked if the procedure is not done properly. In this case the build.prop file has been renamed making the system software not able to detect it when the device is restarted. The best way to deal with this issue is to try to start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before proceeding.
If the factory reset fails to fix the problem then you will need to flash your phone with its stock firmware file. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
S5 No Software Update On Straight Talk
Problem: Hi, I am having a problem with my GSM unlocked galaxy s5 running on the straight talk service. I read on some forums that I can update to the marshmallow software but when I go into my settings and check for the update it says there is none. Is there a solution that does require a CPU (I don’t have one)? Could you please email me with your solution. Thank you.
Solution: Generally, you will need the phone to run on its original network to be able to get the latest update. Some conditions however must be met in order for the software update to become available.
- The phone must not be rooted.
- The phone must not be running on a custom software.
Once the conditions above are met and the phone is still not getting any updates then try to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete try to manually check for the update. If no update is available then I suggest you use Kies or Smart Switch ( a software you install in your computer) to update your device.
If you are still not getting any software updates then you should consider flashing the updated firmware file to your device. Instructions no how to do this can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
S5 Phone Has Stopped Error After Software Update
Problem: Since updated to android 6 when someone calls me and I’m using other apps such as games this appear repeatedly(phone has stopped) and prevent me to answer the call until restart the device And i have this problem while I’m taking screenshot(system UI has stopped) These force stops are annoying me Please help me to solve them… Tnx
Solution: What you need to do first to fix this problem is to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode. This will erase the temporary system data which could be causing this problem. If the issue still occurs then you will need to do a factory reset. Take note that you will have to backup your phone data before doing the reset. This reset will delete any old software data that might not have been completely removed from your phone during the software update and is now causing a conflict with the new software version.
S5 Factory Reset Setting Is Grayed Out
Problem: Galaxy s5 will will not allow a factory reset. Can not make calls or send messages. The factory reset option in settings is grayed out and if you boot in recovery mode and go to factory reset the phone restarts in normal mode with no changes. It doesn’t give the option to delete all data
Solution: If you are unable to do a factory reset even in recovery mode then this could be caused by a software glitch or a restriction in its current software version. You will need to manually flash this phone with its updated firmware file to fix the problem. Refer to the various popular Android forums for instructions on how to flash your device.
S5 Stuck In Samsung Logo
Problem: Hi My problem is that after turning off my cellphone and then turning it on, first it appears the “Samsung Galaxy S5” message, then the message of the name of the company where I bought it (Telcel) and finally it shows up the typical message “Samsung”, but the problem is exactly that, it just says Samsung, it never happens anything else, never. I tried removing the battery and the putting it in again, rebooting it and other stuff but nothing works. I hope you could help me. Thanks.
Solution: For this particular issue you need to remove the battery and microSD card ( if one is installed) of the phone. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then turn on your phone. If the issue still occurs then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode. If the phone starts in this mode then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs.
- Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data.
