Note 4 Reboots Randomly

Problem: Hello there! i have a note 4, had it since april 2015, i have dropped it a few times, recently it has started to reboot itself at the most random of times. even when it’s just sat on the table with the phone locked. I have tried restarting the phone with vol up power home to clear cache but when i try this it gives my the android robot and downloading…. do not turn off target !! as i have dropped the phone and cracked the screen my local samsung shop have told me there is nothing they can do unless i replace the screen, they told me this would be uneconomical.  Is there any advice you could give me please? At the time of writing this I am unaware of the OS version. Kind Regards

Solution: What you can do right now is to check if a glitch in the phone software is causing this problem. Backup your phone data first then do a factory reset. If you are unable to perform the reset through the phone settings then try starting your phone in recovery mode then do the reset from here. Once the reset is done do not install any apps in your phone just yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then this could be caused by a hardware component that is failing. You should have this checked at a service center capable of doing board level repairs

Note 4 Shuts Off Not Turning On Unless Battery Removed

Problem: Phone shuts off and will not turn back on unless I take the battery out and put it back in or put the phone on charge and see the battery life go up from 0 to 30+ percent in seconds and it restarts after that.

Solution: There are two things that you need to check for this particular issue. First, you need to check if some glitch in the phone software is causing this problem. For this you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset has completed restart your device then immediately check if the issue still occurs. If it does then the second thing you need to do is to replace the battery with a new one. The current battery might already be faulty which is why your phone shuts down on its own.

If the above steps fail to fix the issue then it’s very likely caused by an internal hardware component that is defective. I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center capable of doing board level repairs and have it checked.

Note 4 Gets Hot Then Reboots On Its Own

Problem: Hi my samsung note 4 started getting very hot all over when turned on. it then freezes and turns off.then straight away turns on gets to app screen then turns off and keeps doing it. Is it the battery causing this reboot type of thing or the actual mobile. Thanks

Solution: The first thing that you should check in this case is if the phone software is causing the problem. Start your phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. While your phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run which means that if the issue doesn’t occur in this mode it’s most likely caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then you should proceed with a factory reset. This makes the phone revert back to its original condition when it was new. Take note that your phone data will be erased in this process so make sure to create a backup copy before doing the reset.

On troubleshooting the hardware side what you can do is to replace the phone battery. If something is wrong with the current phone battery then this issue could occur.

Should the issue still occur even after performing the steps listed above then it might already be caused by an internal hardware component that’s failing. I suggest that you have your phone checked at a service center that’s capable of doing board level repairs.

Note 4 Battery Drains Random Restart After Marshmallow Update

Problem: Hi! So ever since the marshmallow upgrade on my samsung note 4, the phone has been acting weird. The battery drained out, phone kept restarting on its own etc and now my phone completely turned off. It just won’t turn on. We enquired about a new battery but apparently it’s not the battery problem and the battery is fine. But when i charge, i don’t see the charging light anymore and my phone won’t switch on at all! I’m really confused why it suddenly stopped working.

Solution: The first thing that you should do to address this issue is to make sure that the phone is turned on. Try cleaning the charging port first with a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris that’s stuck in the port which could cause this kind of problem. Next, charge your phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger. Try to turn on your phone, if it doesn’t turn on then try using a new battery.

If you the phone turns on then I recommend that you do a factory reset. This will remove any old software data that might be left behind during the upgrade process and is causing this issue.

If the phone won’t turn on then I suggest that you bring it to a service center capable of doing board level repairs and have it checked.

Note 4 Data Access On Phone That Won’t Turn On

Problem: Hi…..I would like to ask some questions regarding my Samsung note 4. recently my phone overheated and shut down and I can’t turn it on back. so I bring to the service centre and they said it maybe cause of motherboard and ask me to leave my phone for 3 days for them to check and repair the phone but the problem is I have a lot of personal data inside my phone and scared that they might access my personal data. are there any possibility for them to access my data I saved in phone although I have fingerprint to access my phone and password to access my personal data.thank you for your help.

Solution: If you have enabled the security features of your phone such as a password and fingerprint access then your data can’t be accessed by the technicians. There is however a possibility that this data might be erased if they perform a factory reset. If the motherboard is going to be replaced then you also won’t be able to access your personal data anymore.

Note 4 Reboots Repeatedly

Problem: Galaxy Note 4 powers off and repeatedly reboots at around 48% battery. Only solution has been to plug in charger, until battery drops to 48% (+/-) again. I reset the Galaxy Note 4 and now, even with 100% battery, it shuts down when I take a picture. Power dropped from 100% to 77% with a few photos taken. Plug the charger in and it takes pictures without rebooting. Wait a little for some charge, and I was able to take some pictures without charger.

Solution: It’s possible that this problem is caused by a faulty battery. Try getting a new battery and see if the issue still occurs.

Note 4 Not Turning On Even With New Battery

Problem: Just changed my note 4 battery as it was always running down and after charging the new battery my phone turned off. I have reset to factory setting, cleared cache partition all to no avail. Even in safe mode it still turned off. What next can I try?

Related Problem: i have the same problem not turning on at all, tried all the advice given about battery but no luck i even bought a new one but still luck, just a black screen not a flicker of anything when trying to switch on it must be the device itself or as being said could be the firmware

Solution: Try charging your phone for 20 minutes using a different charger and charging cord then turn on your phone. If it doesn’t turn on then the problem could be caused by an internal hardware component that fails to work. I suggest that you have this checked at a service center capable of doing board level repairs.
