Note 4 Can’t Get Update
Problem: I’m pretty sure I messed up my marshmallow update a couple months ago in the middle of the night. I hit a wrong button. I am on straight talk now I can’t get my update on my note 4. I did a factory reset and nothing. I also hooked to kies and it kept saying problem with download. What do I do?
Solution: Both of the troubleshooting steps that you performed are the correct things to do for this type of issue. Unfortunately though, both steps failed to resolve the matter. The best way to proceed in this case is to manually flash the updated firmware file to your device. You will need a copy of the firmware file specific to our device as well as the latest version of Odin installed in your computer. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
Note 4 Unlocked Verizon Software Update
Problem: I have a note 4 from verizon that I have taken to total wireless so therefore operating system will not do updates any longer. I’ve read somewhere on this site you can use a sim card from original carrier to get the current OS. Could I just go buy a verizon sim card and that work or do I need to flash my phone ?
Solution: You should try inserting a Verizon SIM first in your phone as this is the easier way to update the phone software. Once the SIM is inserted the phone will have access to the Verizon update servers. In case your phone does not detect the update then do the following steps listed below.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset
- Try to update your phone by connecting it to a computer with Kies running. Use the software to update your device.
If your phone still won’t update with a Verizon SIM inserted then you should consider manually flashing the updated firmware file to your device. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
Note 4 No LTE Mode After Software Update
Problem: yesterday I updated operating system of my mobile till then it’s not showing the LTE mode. only showing 2 modes- 3G/2G(automatic ) and 2G. Mobile and model- Samsung galaxy note 4 (SM-N910U) OPERATING SYSTEM after update – Android 6.0.1 Previous operating system – Android 5.1
Solution: Try to restart your phone first then go to network mode settings of your phone.
- Tap Settings
- From the Wireless and networks section, tap More networks.
- Tap Mobile networks.
- Tap Network mode.
If you see a setting for LTE/CDMA then make sure to select it.
If you are still not seeing any LTE setting in the network mode then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This reset will delete any old software data that might still be in your phone and is causing this problem.
Note 4 Unlocked AT&T No Software Update On T-Mobile
Problem: My phone lollipop note 4 won’t update to marshmallow , It says my phone is up to date. I bought the phone used in excellent condition. I am tmobile , but my phone is ATT, what can I do???
Solution: Since your phone is an unlocked AT&T device then it will be searching for the update on the AT&T update servers. You will have access to these servers if your phone will use an AT&T SIM.
If your phone has an AT&T SIM installed and your phone still does not update then do the following troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
- Update your phone using the OTA method or by using Kies / Smart Switch.
Take note that your phone should not be rooted or running on a custom firmware for it to be able to get the official update.
On last option you should consider to update your device is to manually flash the updated firmware file. Instructions on how to do this can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
Note 4 Unlocked T-Mobile Not Working On Straight Talk
Problem: Hi! I have an unlocked t mobile phone and have switched it over to straight talk. I have the SIM card and have tried all the apn settings I can find, but they do not work. I cannot send texts or make calls. Please help! Straight phone only offers a phone number for customer service and I can’t make calls! It’s a Samsung Galaxy note 4 32GB SM-N910T GSM Not sure what version.
Solution: Your SIM card might still not be provisioned properly. You should contact Straight Talk regarding this matter.
If the SIM card and your account doesn’t have any problems then the next thing you should do is to check if your phone is getting any signal from the network. It’s best if you try to move to different locations and check if the problem occurs.
To check if the phone software is causing the problem you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Update Request 3.10.40-ge42477w
Problem: My phone Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is displaying the below upgrade request for me to accept but i am not sure if it is a virus. Is it safe to proceed with the below upgrade? ANDROID UPDATE 3.10.40-ge42477w.
Solution: Based on the research that we did online this doesn’t seem to be a legitimate update and looks more like an app trying to get permission to install itself in your phone. Here’s what you should do. Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done do not install anything in your phone yet. Try to check first if you still get the update message. If not then it is most likely a rogue app.
