Pi Lab Edwin the Duck IPX7 Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker For Kids Review

Wouldn’t it be cool if your kids could have their own adorable, little duck to play with while they bath? Believe it or not, there’s an app for that. The Edwin the Duck app for Android and iOS devices is designed to work with pi lab’s rubber toy, Edwin, which received the Kids at Play Interactive Innovation Award at CES 2016. With the app, Edwin becomes a smart buddy for young children, who can use it to learn new things with an assortment of educational games, among other things.

In its essence, Edwin is an IPX7-rated Bluetooth speaker with a few handy special features. It includes an integrated night light, which can be remotely adjusted via the app. When set at the maximum brightness level, Edwin can easily illuminate an entire room. What’s more, Edwin’s thermometer can accurately measure the water temperature, ensuring your baby’s water will always be perfect.

Even though Edwin can be used to play any music or audio, the toy really comes to life with the interactive stories and sing-along songs that can be found in the app. During play, Edwin makes cute sounds and, occasionally, serves as a motion controller. Children can tap on Edwin’s wings, tilt him, turn him, and make him fly—all in a natural, intuitive way that promotes learning and encourages exploration.

The app is constantly updated with new content so there’s always something new and exciting to do. Included in the app are stories, songs, and games, such as shape matching and shape identifying activities.

Edwin can last up to 12 hours on a single charge—more than enough time for an entire day of play. The toy comes with free shipping on all U.S. order and the complementary app is available for free from the Play Store and the App Store.
