S6 Edge Turning Off Randomly

Problem: My s6 edge was playing up few ago turning itself off randomly, performed a factory reset but the problem persists. this week, when i go to apps like snapchat or camera it will turn itself off. Now device won’t turn on without being plugged in. when removed from charging, the device instantly turns off. I haven’t dropped the phone in liquid or let liquid touch the holes or had any bad drops to disconnect anything

Solution: Since you have already performed a factory reset then we can eliminate any software problems that could be causing this issue. On the hardware side the first thing that you should suspect is the battery. Whenever the battery becomes weakened it will not be able to hold its usual charge anymore and the phone might need to be connected to a charger for it to work which is happening in this case. Because this battery is non-user replaceable you will need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked. If it’s not the battery that’s causing this problem then it could be the power circuit which should also be checked.

S6 Edge Only Works When Connected To Charger

Problem: Hi there, I’m am having trouble with my phone, firstly I should mention that my phone suffered a fall and the screen cracked, but otherwise looked and operated as normal, a couple of days later my phone started to refuse to operate on its battery, having to leave my phone constantly plugged in, the battery indicates 100% charge level, but the moment you take it off charge, it dies. My s6 edge operates normally on charge however, like a fault hasn’t occurred, and I’m stumped as to whether it’s the phone or battery, I didn’t want to fork out for a new battery just yet in case it was something different. Apologise for the long winded message, and any help is appreciated. P.S. I’m a fairly techy guy, so you can give me you answer straight up as to its faults

Solution: Right now the best troubleshooting step that you can do is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This allows you to verify is the issue is software related. Once the reset is done don’t install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then the issue is most likely hardware related which could either be due to a faulty battery or a damaged power circuit.

S6 Edge Erratic Battery Level

Problem: The battery on my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge will suddenly jump from between 45% to 30% down to 1%.  At this time all low power alarms will switch on and ask for a charger to be connected to the phone.  When I connect the charger (factory original) it will not be detected until I manually turn off my phone.  At that time not only will the phone start charging, but the on screen icon will display that the battery has over 30% power still left in it.  This started happening shortly after the phone was upgraded from Lollipop to Marshmallow.  I have performed a factory reset, but nothing changed.

Solution: Usually, if issues occur right after a major software update then a factory reset will usually fix the problem. In this case however even after performing the reset the problem still occurs. There are two ways to proceed in this case. You can bring the phone to a service center and have it checked since the problem could be caused by a faulty battery or an issue with the power circuit. You can also opt to check if the issue is caused by the Marshmallow update by downgrading the software back to Lollipop. You will however have to flash the Lollipop firmware to your phone in order to get it back. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.

S6 Edge Gets Hot When Charged Does Not Turn On

Problem: I have a Samsung S6 Edge that has died unresponsive – will not charge, goes very hot when charges is connected, is not recognised when plugged into USB but does get hot. I have tested the charges and USB cable they work fine on other devices. I am trying to get the data and photos of as I have not backed up, before I hand it back to the store. No doubt they will wipe it or replace it, I have a lot of memories and files / contacts that are important to me. Any help would be appreciated.

Solution: The heat generated by the phone when connected to its charger combined with the fact that it does not turn on indicates that there might be a shorted circuit somewhere. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked. The troubleshooting will start with the charging port going all the way up to the battery. If the component that is causing this problem is found and can easily be replaced then you will still have access to your personal data stored in the phone.

S6 Edge Not Turning On After Battery Replacement

Problem: Took apart my phone after some water damage and cleaned off the area with the water damage with rubbing alcohol and let it dry.  It worked, however, while replacing the cover it cracked.  I used the phone like this for about 3 weeks. Ordered a new cover and realized the battery was not seated as well as it could have been. Re-seated the battery.  The phone would not power on.  Unseated it.  The phone powered on.  After a few attempts, realized now that the battery was damaged from the side as it was leaking some type of black material.  Ordered a new battery.  I replaced the old battery with the new one.  It will not power on.  Not sure where to go from here.

Solution: You need to check if the replacement battery is working. If you have a tester try to check its output voltage. You should also try charging this battery for at least 20 minutes then try to turn on the phone. If the issue still occurs then the problem could be caused by an internal component inside your phone that has been damaged. I suggest you have this checked at a service center.

S6 Edge Charges Only When Connected To Laptop

Problem: strange charging problem on s6 edge. will not charge if plugged into was, have tried multiple charges, have done factory reset. If I plug phone into laptop will start charging, then can unplug from laptop and plug into wall and it will charge.

Solution: This problem is usually caused by an issue with the charging port or the power circuit of your phone. You need to clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or by blowing into it using a straw. The aim here is to take out any dirt or debris that could be stuck in this port and is causing the problem. When charging your phone you should also try to use a different charging cord.

If the issue still persist even after following the steps listed above then you should have your phone checked at a service center.

S6 Edge Not Turning On Overheats When On Charger

Problem: i was driving in my car, me and some friends were on our way to florida. we stopped at a gas station and I went in to use the restroom, leaving my phone in the car playing music via bluetooth. i came back out to a black screen phone that wont charge, overheats if on the charger, and no notification led lights whatsoever (yellow, red, blue, green). i bought a new battery and replaced it thinking that the battery was fried, yet replacing the battery did nothing. there is some cracks in my screen but they have been there for quite some time.

Solution: Right now the best troubleshooting step that you can do is to try cleaning the charging port with a can of compressed air or by blowing into it using a straw. Once this is done check if the issue still occurs. If it does then this is very likely caused by a shorted circuit. I recommend that you have your phone checked at a service center.
