S5 Screen Flickers Blinking
Problem: My phone screen flickers and blinking. If the display is turned off, I can try and turn it on by hitting the power button and home button However that takes a while to work because the screen will flash and then go back to black. It will flash with lines through it, eventually I can get it to go to the home screen and stay there. Then when I’m using the phone it will flash with lines across the screen and sort of dim out. Any idea how to fix it?
Solution: For this case you need to check first if a glitch in the phone software is causing the problem. To do this just backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done do not install anything in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then this is most likely a hardware related issue already probably caused by a faulty display. I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.
S5 Can’t Swipe Screen During Call
Problem: The screen will not acknowledge the swipe when a call comes in. Seems to happening more. All other screens work fine, just the incoming call screen, when I swipe at the green button nothing happens. Starting to lose calls!
Solution: Try checking if a third party app is causing this issue by starting your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are prevented from running. Check if the issue occurs when the phone is running in this mode. If it doesn’t occur then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
In case the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S5 Screen Is Unresponsive
Problem: The screen is unresponsive when I try to unlock it and it remains black even though the phone vibrates acknowledging that it has been unlocked. I have to keep trying to press the side ‘on’ button together with the centre button at the bottom of the screen before the screen will light up. When the screen finally does come on it flickers and when the screen goes off again it’s the same problem all over again.
Solution: You should first check if the phone software is causing this problem by doing the troubleshooting steps listed below. Check if the issue occurs after performing each step then move to the next step if the issue still occurs.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This will delete the temporary system data which could be causing the problem.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install anything in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs.
If the issue still occurs after performing the troubleshooting steps listed above then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center as this could already be a hardware related problem.
S5 Screen Is Blank
Problem: i am using samsung s5, i don’t know what happen , 1 day phone suddenly started restart continuously then i keep that as it is then after some time the display goes off, now the display is gone where as if i keep my phone by removing the battery then after 10 day i try to start then samsung mobile option come and restart again. and then display blank again.. after few days display come up again… i don’t understand is it display or motherboard problem plz help me with this
Solution: To get to the root of this matter you will need to perform several troubleshooting steps whose purpose is to check for the possible causes. Listed below are the steps that you need to do. Perform each step then move to the next step if the problem still persists.
- Try using a new battery on your phone. This is to eliminate any battery related issues that could be causing the problem.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode. If the phone is able to work in this mode then the issue is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If after performing the steps listed above the issue still occurs then I recommend that you have your phone checked at a service center
S5 Screen Is Broken
Problem: My screen broke a few weeks ago. The phone still worked fine though and I planned continuing traveling with it. I am currently in Vietnam and use my phone a lot. Two days ago the screen did not go on anymore, The white touchscreen lights do and it still has a vibration function which works when I try to switch it off or on. I wonder if it is the screen that I need to repair which would be the most obvious thing to do of course. However I do think it might be a battery problem. The phone got overheated many times in Vietnam. The battery charged way too fast. I bought the phone in Holland and we use a different voltage there than in Vietnam. What do you think will be the best option and do you know anything about the prices of repairment?
Solution: The best way to proceed in this case is to try to get a new battery first. Since you are currently in Vietnam then the battery is usually going to cost cheap there. Make sure to get the original Samsung battery for your phone. If the issue still occurs even if a new battery is installed then the problem is most likely caused by the display. If there are physical cracks on the phone screen then you must have the display replaced. Replacing the screen will have to be done a a service center. I’m not sure how much it’s going to cost to replace the display there in Vietnam but the display assembly usually start at $200.
S5 Screen Is Black With Notifications
Problem: Screen is black but I can hear it turn on and when I touch the screen it vibrates and makes noises. So it’s on and working but the screen is black.
Solution: In most cases like this the issue is caused by a faulty display. Try checking if you can start the phone in recovery mode. If you can see the options on the screen in this mode then there’s a chance the issue could be caused by a software glitch. You will need to do a factory reset in this mode. Take note that this will delete your phone data.
If the screen is still black even in recovery mode then you have to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked. It’s possible that you will have to get the display replaced.
S5 Purple Spot On Screen
Problem: i had my phone in my front pocket then suddenly my phone had a purple spot and then it just spread out on my screen and i’m wondering if the issue is on the LCD?
Solution: To check if the issue is caused by a defective display just backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If after the reset the issue disappears then it might just be caused by a software glitch. If you still see the purple spot after the reset then we’re looking at a defective display.
