Note 5 Screen Is Not Responding

Problem: The recent update i had on my device was the 6.0 marshmallow and i’m noticing that e the right side touch on my screen isn’t responding please help.. Soft reset was done with no changes

Solution: Have you tried checking if the right side does not work when using your finger and the S Pen? If the issue does not occur when using the S Pen then it’s possible that this could be caused by a damaged digitizer.

To troubleshoot this problem you will need to check if a glitch in the phone software is causing this by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

If after the reset the issue still occurs I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked since this could be a digitizer related problem.

Note 5 Screen Automatically Turns Off

Problem: I’ve bought and used my phone for exactly a month now. However i find it strange since sometimes my screen automatically turned off and wont turn on even though the phone is still working (notification and speaker still works). This happen for about twice a day and the duration of the black screen only last for about 2 minutes. This might not be a major problem, but i find it disturbing especially since my phone is still new and in completely perfect condition.  If possible i would like to know the problem of my phone. I suppose it is not related to third party apps since it crash randomly on any apps that I opened.

Solution: You should try to check if some form of corrupt system data is causing this issue by wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Once this is done check if the issue still occurs. If it does then the next step is to check if a third party app installed in your phone is causing the problem. To do this you have to start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are prevented from running.  Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t occur then it is most likely caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then I suggest you proceed with a factory reset. Take note that this erases your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before proceeding.

S5 Screen Not Working After Phone Got Wet

Problem: I  had some water poured onto my phone at the beach. However after I dried it off I couldn’t use the touch screen anymore. People would call and I couldn’t swipe to answer or use the screen to text. All the other buttons like the home screen, back and options buttons work.  The only problem is the screen is unresponsive. Is it as simple as just replacing the screen?

Solution: Unfortunately, if the phone got water damaged it’s difficult to pinpoint what exact components got affected if the phone is not checked at a service center. There is however a big possibility that the display got damaged which means that you only need to replace the display. There are cases however when even the motherboard is affected.  I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center so that they can check which components have been affected by the water.

S5 Screen Crack After Phone Dropped

Problem: My phone was dropped glass screen saver shattered regular screen has a crack in it.  Screen still lights up but I can’t even so much as answer a call. Does this mean my lcd screen is cracked?

Solution: If the screen does not respond to your touch then it’s very likely that the display has been affected by the crack. I recommend that you have your phone checked at a service center. It’s very likely that you will have to replace the phone display to fix this problem.

S5 Screen Is Black Unresponsive

Problem: screen is completely black and unresponsive, the two touch buttons on the bottom light up… the phone makes the unlock and lock noise when the lock button is pressed. I just got the phone 3 Hours ago. What should i do? Wait for the phone to die and see if it works again on charging?

Solution: Try taking out the battery and microSD card ( if one is installed) then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This discharges the phone circuit and clears out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then try turning on your phone. If it is still unresponsive then try to check if you can start the phone in recovery mode. If you can access this mode I suggest you do a factory reset from here. Take note that your phone data will be erased in this process.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should check the warranty if can have the phone replaced.

S5 Screen Flashes White Light After Drop

Problem: I dropped my Galaxy Note 5 and it fell about knees length and it hit on the top left corner. I can only view about 80% of the screen, but it only flashes a white light essentially. Is this an issue with the lcd?

Solution: It looks like the display got damaged during the drop. Try to check if you can start the phone in recovery mode. If the display works in this mode then I recommend that you do a factory reset. Take note this will delete your phone data. If the issue occurs even in recovery mode then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked. It’s very likely that you will need to have the display replaced.
