Note 4 Unresponsive Freezes
Problem: Hi guys. I have now tried almost everything. My note gives me endless trouble after a security patch that downloaded. No issues before. I have gone from KitKat to Lollipop to Marshmallow. It will gets unresponsive, freezes and then restart. After that it’s fine for make 5 min. I’ve done soft reset. Hard reset. Downloaded 2 latest versions from Samsonite and flashed with Odin. Cleared the cache but the problem still persist. I’ve done a hardware test with *#0*# and still don’t see anything funny. It’s almost 2 years old still on the same battery and memory card. From what I have read on your forums those are the only 2 things I haven’t changed yet. Please can you advise? Many thanks. Regards.
Solution: Since you already performed most of the recommended troubleshooting steps for this particular issue then you should try using a different battery and microSD card. If the issue persists then the problem could already be hardware related. I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.
Note 4 Goes To Download Mode Recovery Mode
Problem: I had a lot of videos and pictures and applications on my phone taking up a bunch of memory and my phones operating system wasn’t dealing too well with it. My phone kept turning off with plenty battery and going into download mode and recovery mode and at some points it would turn on with what looked like a dead android icon and the words ‘no command’ written. On top of that, it even took away my wallpaper when it started back up and reset the way my quick action bar on the scroll menu was ordered. So i backed up my videos and photos and cleared a bunch of space on my device hoping it would stop it crashing as frequently as every 5 minutes and often refusing to turn back on. Unfortunately, I now have plenty of space on my phone but my note 4 still crashes every 5 minutes – turning itself off, freezing the screen and then rebooting into download mode, turning off and going into recovery mode and even my signal with my carrier (giffgaff) has turned really bad and jumps keeps jumping from ‘E’ to ‘4G’ and I know it’s not my location because I live in west London. I believe it is an operating system or more likely a software issue. How do i fix it – Please help me. Thank you . P.S. my phone is only like 18 months old has not taken any serious drops and screen has always been intact.
Solution: For this particular issue you should first check if the phone software is causing the problem by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete do not install anything in your phone yet. Try to check first if the problem still occurs. If your phone has a microSD card installed then try removing it as well.
If you issue still persists then you might want to consider flashing your phone with an updated stock firmware file. Instructions on how to do this can be found at several of the popular android forums online.
Note 4 Stuck In Boot Loop
Problem: Hi, I need help please, it’s stuck on bootloop and wont go past it. Iv reinstalled the firmware using Odin but when the phone installs the software on the phone after restarting it goes to 32% and then says erasing and then restarts and goes back to boot loop again. It’s not installing the software properly. Any suggestions thank you
Solution: Reinstalling the phone software should be the last thing to consider after exhausting other troubleshooting steps. Since the phone goes into a loop while trying to flash the phone software try taking out the battery and microSD card of the device first. Once both are removed press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Once done reinsert just the battery then start the phone in recovery mode. From this mode do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete perform a wipe cache partition (also in recovery mode). Try to flash the phone software again using Odin.
Note 4 Very Slow Gets Hot
Problem: All of a sudden when I’ve had no issue at all before and I had been using it all day, while I was in my YouTube app my phone started what I can only describe as glitching. Then it starting running really slow and not wanting to open apps. When I got home about a half hour later I took off the smart case that I had on it and removed my SD card. But it’s still extremely hot to the touch and even though it’s plugged in, it’s not even holding a charge. Also my WiFi is turned on and I have Internet but it keeps twitching up there blinking between WiFi and 4G. That part sometimes stops but not for long. I really hope you guys can help. Thank you in advance.
Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this case is to check if an app you downloaded is using up most of the phone resources. When this happens the phone slows down and can overheat. Start the phone in Safe Mode. While the device is in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are prevented from running. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done do not install anything in the phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then this could already be a hardware related problem in which case I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.
Note 4 Slow Freeze Crashes
Problem: HI I’ve had my Note 4 for about 18 months until I updated to Marshmallow. Issues Slow Freeze Crash and reboot Went into Odin mode by itself a few times days Things I’ve tried Soft reboot Wipe cache Factory reset with full restore from backup and installed SD card Factory reset with restore from backup but no apps and no SD card Tried your battery trouble shoot with no success Removed all widgets with no success If I do a factory reset in the evening, I’ll get about 85% stability. By the next afternoon, my phone is so unstable it’s useless. All my reading suggests firmware issue. Please help
Solution: You should try to check if the update is causing this issue by flashing the previous stock firmware file to your phone. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this. Detailed instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
If the issue still occurs even when the previous software version is installed in you phone then this might already be a hardware related problem. I recommend that you have your phone checked at a service center if this is the case.
Note 4 Not Updating To Marshmallow
Problem: Model Number SM-N910F Android Version 5.0.1 (Lollipop). I understood from Samsung center that this phone is an international phone. Im unable to update to Marshmallow which i should be able to. Would appreciate if there is a solution to this. I tried Smart Switch. It wouldn’t work.
Solution: Try backing up your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done try to update your phone software again using OTA method or by using Smart Switch.
If the update is still unavailable then this might be because your phone is a rooted or running on a custom software.
The best way to get Marshmallow on your device if it doesn’t want to update is to manually flash the update. Instructions on how to do this can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
