Note 4 Screen Not Responding To Touches

Problem: My phone was working completely fine. Suddenly when I turned it on 30 minutes later since I last used it, the screen didn’t respond to my touches. I can still receive messages and notifications etc. normally. I have restarted the device several times. The screen only works if I use the S Pen, but not with my touches (which is very annoying). Thank you.

Solution: It looks like the phone has a busted digitizer which means that you have to replace the whole display assembly. You can however check if this issue is caused by a glitch in the phone software by backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset. If after the reset the issue still occurs then you have to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked. It’s very likely that the technician will recommend a display replacement.

Note 4 Screen Is Black

Problem: I was charging my phone for an hour or two, then i went to go the restroom, and when i came back the screen was black and it was messing up. Green and white lines were across and my phone wouldnt turn off, so i pulled out the battery and put it back in, but it was still messed up. After this i pulled the battery out along with my sim card and held the power down for three minutes buybits still black and spreading.

Solution: In issues such as this you the first thing you need to check if is the phone software is causing the problem. Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done and the issue still occurs then this is already a hardware related problem possibly caused by a damaged display. I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Screen Is Black With Notifications Working

Problem: I dropped my phone and now its black screen. led light and below buttons work and can hear phone calls but screen is blank. tried pressing power button for 2 minutes after removing battery. still not working. can i get it repaired without going to service center?

Solution: It’s possible that the display of your phone is already defective. You can try getting a new display and do the replacement yourself. You will need to check out the tutorial videos over at YouTube on how to perform this procedure. I however recommend that you bring your phone to a service center since there might be other components inside your phone that’s causing the problem and the service center will have the right equipment to do the checking.

Note 4 Screen Is Black No Response

Problem: Phone screen is black I tried all the tricks like holding the power button for a min to drain the energy. The Samsung galaxy s4 symbol came on the screen went black. Haven’t dropped my phone or anything. Not sure what’s going on. The screen just went black one day.

Solution: You should try to check first if this issue is a power related problem. Try using a new battery on your phone. You should also try connecting the charger to your phone when turning it on.

If the screen is still black check if you are able to start the device in recovery mode. If you are able to access this mode then you should do a factory reset. Take note that your phone data will be erased so make sure to have a backup copy before proceeding with this.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center since it;s possible that this could be a hardware issue already.

Note 4 Screen Is Black After Phone Dropped

Problem: My phone slipped out of my hand and my screens black so I plugged it in to charge the red light comes on so I push the power button to turn on I see the blue light but screen still black I see a little green line on bottom screen and two little yellow or off white spots of light in my  left corner of my phone how do I fix my phone?

Solution: The display might have been damaged when your phone slipped. Try restarting your phone in recovery mode then check if the same issue exists. If it doesn’t then I recommend that you do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy first. If the problem still occurs even in recovery mode then bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Black Screen When Phone Sleeps

Problem: Hi, first let me say how relieved I am there are folk out there like you who will help the little guys like us who are so bamboozled by technology which you can solve in a second, and not charge us the earth!  My problem is that I get a black screen every time my note 4 goes to sleep. I hear little beeping sounds when I touch the power key but that’s it. It will power up when I remove the battery and replace it. I’ve tried solving the problem via your article:   http://thedroidguy.com/2015/08/how-to-fix-samsung-galaxy-note-4-black-screen-issue-1048321, but it didn’t work.

Solution: Since you already performed all of the troubleshooting steps listed in our previous article for issues like this then I suspect the problem is caused by a component inside your phone that is failing. I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Screen Not Working After Phone Wakes From Sleep

Problem: Once the phone comes and it closes the screen due to lack of use the screen goes blank and doesn’t come back on but the phone is still on. You can hear the keys being pressed and see the notification light on. But the screen is blank.

Solution: Sometimes issues like this could be caused by problems with the phone software. Below are the recommended troubleshooting steps that you need to do. Move to the next step should the problem still occurs.

  • Start the phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. This will delete the cached data of the phone software which could be causing the problem.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Horizontal Lines At Bottom Of Screen

Problem: I have horizontal lines on the half bottom of the screen. They are more visible when the  screen is dimmed. On the left corner the lines are more white.I could send you a picture with the problem

Solution: Try to check first if  a third party app installed in your phone is causing this problem by checking if the same issue occurs in Safe Mode. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the problem occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If the reset fail then it’s possible that the display is damaged. Have this checked at a service center.
