MetroPCS has just taken the wraps off the Alcatel Tru for just $29.99, making it the cheapest newly launched smartphone in recent memory. The handset comes with a budget ranged hardware, of course, so don’t expect any flattering items on the specs sheet.
The device comes with a 5-inch 480 x 854 display, a quad-core 1.1 GHz Snapdragon 210 SoC, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of expandable storage, a 5-megapixel camera on the back, a 2-megapixel front camera, Android 5.0 Lollipop and a 2,000 mAh battery. As you can see, it’s not a beast in terms of internal hardware. However, for the price quoted by the carrier, the Alcatel Tru is an excellent value.
It appears that the handset is merely a rebranded version of the Alcatel Pop 3 (5) which was unveiled late last year, so some customers might be familiar with the handset’s hardware. Interested in grabbing the device? Make sure you head over to a MetroPCS outlet near you for more details.
