Hi. I have tried multiple times using advice on your website but it isn’t working. Basically my S6 Edge randomly turned off the other day and wouldn’t turn back on. A few hours later it (it was warm this whole time) turned back on and displayed 30% less battery then before it turned off. It then did it again the same day and dropped from 60% battery to 19% after a few hours of being off. It has just turned off again and is warm and will not turn back on no matter what I do. It also won’t charge (or won’t show that it is charging). Does it sound like a battery issue? Could an app cause this to happen? Or do you think it could be software and I will have to send it in to Samsung?
I haven’t recently dropped it, It hasn’t touched water. Not sure why it suddenly decided to do it. Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks *NOTE* I dont know what my Android version is, I just picked the lollipop version. — Nathan
Solution: Hi Nathan. Based on your problem description, it appears you have a hardware issue. It may be a bad battery or an entirely different component like a bad CPU or related parts. Since you’ve already tried our suggestions, you can safely assume that this issue is beyond your ability to fix. Call Samsung and let them do a full hardware check.
Hey Guys, I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and it keeps on blacking out. I have tried everything and still won’t turn on. I have had this phone for almost a year and this is the third time in one week that it has blacked out without me knowing. Whenever my phone blacks out, I would have to wait half a day or so for at least half/all of my phone battery to die out before it decides to turn back on, and or if that does not work I would put it on charge to see if the charging symbols would at least appear. But this time it just won’t turn on!! You wouldn’t happen to have any chance of explanation this could be, would you? — Shebasalesa
Solution: Hi Shebasalesa. Unless we know the full history of your device, there’s no way for us explain what the problem might be. The best that you can do right now is to check if you can make the phone boot to another mode so you can do something. Before you try anything, make sure that you leave the phone is connected to a charger for at least 30 minutes so ensure that the battery is charged.
Boot in safe mode. Doing this procedure is usually suggested if you suspect that a third party app is messing up with a device. However, in your case, you want to do it to see if your S6 will respond in a different mode. Here’s how to boot your S6 in safe mode:
- Press and hold the Volume Down and Power keys for 20 to 30 seconds.
- Once you see the Samsung logo, release the Power key immediately but continue pressing the Volume Down key.
- Your phone should continue booting up and you will be prompted to unlock your phone as usual.
- You will know if the phone successfully booted in safe mode if the text “Safe mode” is displayed at the lower-left corner of the screen.
Boot in Recovery mode. Recovery mode is where you want to go to if you wipe the cache partition or factory reset. If you can boot your phone in this mode, there’s a chance that you may be able fix the problem by doing either of the two or both. Here’s how to boot your S6 in Recovery mode:
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, and Power key.
- When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
- When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
Boot in Download/Odin mode. If your phone won’t boot in safe mode and recovery mode, your only hope depends whether or not it will on download mode. If your phone will boot to download mode, you may be able to bring the phone back to normal mode after installing stock or custom ROM.
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Down key, Home key, and Power key.
- When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Down key and the Home key.
- When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Down and Home keys.
Remember, if you’ll be unable to boot your phone to any of these modes, you’re out of luck. You must find a way to have it repaired or replaced.
Hi. I seem to be having a common Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge problem. I use T-Mobile but my phone is unlocked and originally from AT&T. I am in Berrien Springs, MI 49103. When I try to make a call, I have to wait about 30-45 seconds to hear the sound that the call is going through before it starts to ring. Also, when people call me, they say it rings once and then goes to voicemail. I have tried it and I got the same result. The troubleshooting tip I saw before on this site doesn’t help me as it seems I don’t have VoLTE in my phone. Funny enough, I went to another township about 15mins away and my calls were coming in and when I made a call it went through in the regular time. — Alwayne
Solution: Hi Alwayne. This is one of a few issues that only your wireless can help you with. The problem may be network-related that’s why it only affects your area so you have to let them know about it.
There seems to be a problem with my phone’s front camera. I find there is a difference in the image quality when compared with another S6 Edge’s front camera. The image quality is not at all similar. I even tried to factory reset the phone but the problem still persists. I cleaned the lens of the front camera but unfortunately, that too didn’t help. The image quality is slightly blurry and yellowish. It’s only a few months old phone. I love the phone and the camera. What could be the possible solution to this? I’ll be glad if you could help me fix this issue. Thanks! — Rohit
Solution: Hi Rohit. Did you change the settings of the camera app, especially its white balance? If you are fond of changing settings without knowing exactly what you’re doing, make sure that you reset the camera settings back to default. You can do that by doing the following:
- Open the Camera app.
- Tap the white gear-shaped icon.
- Under Camera settings scroll down to the bottom and tap Reset settings.
- Tap Reset.
- Tap Ok.
- Go back to home screen.
If resetting the camera settings won’t help, there may be a third party app that interferes with the camera app. Boot the phone in safe mode to see any difference. If camera output remains even if safe mode is engaged, you can assume that you have a bad hardware. Call Samsung and ask for a replacement.
I recently cracked my screen on my Galaxy S6 Edge +. I went to a repair store they fixed the screen, but while doing this when the phone was assembled the camera did not work. Every time it was opened I got the “Camera Failed” popup. The front facing camera worked fine. I tried clearing the cache partition and completely resetting my phone and nothing worked. The repair shop ordered a new camera part to see if that would fix the problem, but it hasn’t been delivered yet. Is there any other things I can attempt to get the camera working? — Alessandro
Solution: Hi Alessandro. Unfortunately no. work with the repair shop guys to have the phone’s camera fixed.
