S6 Not Getting Text Messages

Problem: When texting i often don’t receive messages. It seems like it only happens with one or two people (the sender always has an iphone) but it may happen with others and i just haven’t realized it. My phone always sends texts fine, it’s just that i end up not getting probably 1 out of every 20 or 30 texts that are sent to me by the people i text often. Its super annoying. I’ve tried clearing the cache and data for the messaging app, and i’ve made sure to delete all old texts. It still happens. PLEASE HELP.

Solution: If the issue constantly occurs from senders using an iPhone then the most likely reason is that they are sending the text message as an iMessage. Have them check if the message they sent to you is in a blue bubble. If it is then this is sent as an iMessage. The message should be in a green bubble in order for you to receive it. To do this have them go to their phone setting then tap on messages. From here make sure that send as sms is activated.

S6 Unfortunately Messaging Has Stopped Error

Problem: While using the default messaging app on my galaxy S6 i often get the message “unfortunately messaging has stopped” or something similar. I have a hard time sending messages and i receive no notifications if i do receive a text. I restarted my device several times, cleared the data and the cache, and i have done all but do a factory reset because i cannot yet fully back up my device. I have noticed that it only happened once i updated my device to 6.0.1 a few days ago. I am unsure of what else i can do. Any help is greatly appreciated

Solution: It’s very likely that this issue is caused by the update. If you can’t do a factory reset yet then I suggest you try wiping the cache partition of your phone first from the recovery mode. Once this is done check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you should consider doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this.

S6 Microphone Missing From Keyboard

Problem: When I first got my phone I could dictate text messages by tapping the microphone at the bottom and talking into the phone instead of typing them on the keyboard. All of sudden the microphone button at the bottom of the keyboard disappeared and now shows an emoticon button instead. I would really like to be able to voice dictate text messages again. Please help! Thanks.

Solution: Try clearing the cache and data of the messaging app from the application manager then restart your phone. Once the phone has restarted try long pressing the emoticon key. This will bring up the microphone in its place. LOng pressing the microphone key again will bring up the emoticon key.

S6 Muted Text Thread

Problem: Hello, somehow I muted my girlfriends text so when i receive texts from her I can’t hear when they arrive. When i open my textbook it is like i little volume Icon on her. How can I remove the Icon so that I can hear when I get a text from her? Thank you and have a good day

Solution: Just follow the steps listed below.

  • Make sure that the text message of the user is open
  • Tap on the down arrow beside their phone number top left (conversation setting should open)
  • Change the notification setting (if the setting selector is grey then it is muted)
