Samsung Galaxy S6 No Longer Charges Issue & Other Related Problems

S6 No Longer Charges

Problem: I can no longer charge my phone using a charger, it will only charge using a USB and very slow. The Gear VR won’t work now either. It connects when I put the phone into the Gear VR I get a beep for a few seconds, the screen goes black, and then nothing, it just goes back to the main phone screen. I was thinking it could be the connector on the phone, but I have cleaned that and it didn’t seem to help. I also tried Safe Mode booting, and a full factory reset – and still no joy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Solution: Have you tried cleaning the charging port of your phone yet? If you haven’t then try doing it by using a can of compressed air or by blowing into it using a straw. Your aim is to take out any dirt or debris that could be present in this port and is causing the problem. Try charging your phone again after this.

If the issue persists then the problem could be caused by a faulty charging port or daughter board. This could also be causing the issue of the Gear VR not connecting to your phone. I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center if this is the case.

S6 Does Not Turn Back On

Problem: My phone suddenly turned off and will not turn back on. It had 56% battery left when it happened. I had had Candy Crush open but closed it about 10 mins before it turned off. I don’t know how to get the battery out. I’ve tried turning it on again, I pressed the volume up, home and power buttons at the same time. I put the phone on to charge but nothing has happened. There are no lights flashing or anything. I did the software update about 2 weeks ago as prompted.

Solution: Try simulating a battery pull first by pressing and holding down both the power and the volume down key for at least 7 seconds. Normally, your phone should restart after this. If you still get no response from your device then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below. Move to the next step should the issue still occur.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or by blowing to it using a straw. What you need is to take out any dirt or debris that could be lodged in the port. Charge your phone for 20 minutes then try to turn it on.
  • Charge your phone for 20 minutes again but this time use a different charging cord and wall charger. Check if you can now turn on your phone.
  • Try to start your phone in recovery mode. If you are able to access this mode then I recommend that you do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy first.

If the above steps fail to fix the issue then I suggest you have this checked at a service center.

S6 Not Charging

Problem: I was out, I plugged in my power bank and everything charged as normal. But then it said. Welcome to Google app, every time I plugged in the charging wire it opened the app and wouldn’t charge the phone. I got home and it happened when trying to charge from mains. I disabled Google app but it still tried to load an application rather than charge. I restarted, restarted in safe mode. Was going to do data wipe but the battery died and now the phone is dead and won’t charge. There was rain whilst I was out using the phone if that might also have been a factor?  -I’m super confused

Solution: It looks like water may have entered the phone and is causing this issue. What you need to do first in cases like this is to make sure your phone is thoroughly dry first. Place the phone in a bag of rice for 24 to 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture inside the phone.

After the time has elapsed clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or by blowing to it using a straw. You need to take out any dirt or debris that could be present in this port. Try charging your phone for 20 minutes before turning it on. If the phone still does not turn on then you should bring it to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Water Damaged Only Turns On When Connected To Charger

Problem: Hi, Water damaged S6 turns on only when connected to charger. Battery charges to 100%. I was out on a boat and the boat flipped and my Samsung Galaxy S6 which was in my hand bag got wet. It was probably in a feet of water for a couple of minutes. Immediately after we got out of the water the phone looked dead. After about a week in rice and oatmeal to dry out the phone I tried to power it and the phone powers on only when it is connected to the charger. The phone charged to 100% over some time but as soon as I disconnect the charger the phone turns off. Could you please provide some advice regarding what the issue might be and now to fix it? The phone works perfectly fine when plugged in.  Thank you!

Solution: If there are no issues when the phone is connected to its charger then the most likely component that has been damaged by the water is the battery. Bring your phone to a service center and have the battery checked. If necessary, have this battery replaced with a new one.

S6 No Longer Charges After Getting Wet

Problem: Hello, I recently dropped my phone in the sink. Shortly after it started displaying an overheating warning. Due to this it will no longer charge. The phone is dead, when first plugged in charging symbol appears but after a few seconds is replaced by an exclamation mark in a red triangle. I left it a while to see if it would fix itself but it hasn’t. It is £240 set priced to get it fixed so I wondered if there was anything I could try before paying for it? Thanks for your time!

Solution: It looks like the phone has suffered from water damage. If this is the case then it has to be sent to a service center since each component must be checked. I suggest you just go ahead and have this phone fixed.

S6 Does Not Charge

Problem: MY PHONE IS COMPLETELY OUT OF POWER AND WHEN I INSERT MY SAMSUNG CHARGER TO RECHARGE THE PHONE IT CONNECTS AND I SEE THE BATTERY SIGN AND THE LIGHTNING BOLT BUT NO GREEN LIGHT OR RED FLASHING LIGHT THE PHONE STICKS ON THE BATTERY AND LIGHTNING SIGN FOR ABOUT 3/5 MINUTES AND DOES NOT MOVE. IT SEEMS TO GIVE MY PHONE A JOLT OF LIFE THAT IT TURNS ON FOR 10 SECONDS MAX BUT BUT CUTS STRAIGHT OFF AGAIN. I HAVE LEFT IT ON CHARGE FOR 12 HOURS WITH NO ACTIVITY IN AN OFFICIAL SAMSUNG CHARGER THAT IS IN PERFECT WORKING CONDITION AND NO CHANGE WITH THE PHONE’S PERFORMANCE. OR LACK OF. CAN YOU HELP PLEASE

Solution: Here’s what you need to do to fix this issue. First, clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol. Next, try charging the phone using a different charging cord. Try moving the cord around and see if the charging connects and disconnects. If it does then the issue could be caused by a damaged charging port. I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center if this is the case.

Another possible factor that can cause this problem is a faulty battery. You will also need to have this checked at a service center if this is the case.
