S5 Screen Blinking
Problem: i used to use my device at low brightness and now the problem is that the screen is divided into two parts. At low brightness ,half of the display screen starts blinking with a light green light. When i increase the brightness screen becomes normal. please help me to fix it. And i checked about “turning off hardware layouts” but it did not work because half of the screen blinks not all the screen. please help me to fix this problem.
Solution: It looks like this could already be a hardware related issue. You should however check if the phone software has anything to do with this by following the troubleshooting steps listed below. Move to the next step should the problem still occur.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the same issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This will delete the temporary data in your phone which could be causing the problem.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If after following the steps listed above the issue still persists then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S5 Entire Screen Is Black
Problem: Screen started with a spot and gradually started creeping through the phone until the entire screen went black. I am not sure which version of android the phone is, lollipop, etc… I can give the model # SM g900t and any other details you may need from the back of the phone if you need to help you verify. Just ask when you respond if you need. Phone lights up at the bottom and you can see the blue light at the top and the red light when charging, and you can hear all the sounds. However, there is no screen.
Solution: The issue you described is most likely caused by a damaged phone display. When the display alone doesn’t work you will notice that it has a black screen while the notification sounds still work ( the phone still gets calls or text notifications still sound).
The best troubleshooting step that you can do is to start the phone in recovery mode. If the display works in this mode then the problem could be software related. You will need to perform a factory reset from here. Take note that your phone data will be deleted in the process.
If the display is still black even in recovery mode then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center. You will probably need to have the display replaced if it is proved to be defective already.
S5 Backing Up Data When Screen Is Black
Problem: Phone screen was found black after being in my bag at work all day – work in an air conditioned office. From all research and tests performed the phone needs to be sent off to a phone technician. Before I do this – is there a way that I can back up all of the information from the phone to a laptop using Smart Switch, when there is a screen lock on the phone. Can the screen lock be disabled or by passed somehow, without needing to use the screen. I don’t want to loose the data.
Solution: Unfortunately there is no way to unlock the device without access to the display and manually entering the unlock code. This is one of the security features of an Android device that prevents it from being accessed remotely. Your only option right now is to instruct the technician that will repair your phone not to delete its data. There’s a chance that your data will remain since all that needs to be done is to replace the phone display.
S5 Static Screen
Problem: okay so my phone has a static screen right after i got my brand new phone case. I sent my dad to go buy one. Keep in mind before i gave him my phone, it was perfectly fine. But a couple hours later he returned and my phone had a static screen. It would freeze for 2-5 minutes. Now my situation is even more worse, it is completely frozen. Just a static screen and there’s nothing i can do. Please reply and get back to me as soon as you can
Solution: The problem is most likely caused by a loose flex connector between the display and the phone motherboard or a damaged flex connector. Try starting your phone in recovery mode first to check if the static also occurs in this mode. If it does then I suggest you have your phone checked a service center.
S5 Green Line On Display
Problem: When I try to turn my phone on, it vibrates once as it always does but instead of the power screen appearing, a single green horizontal line flashes across the screen. This happens every time I try, and I know my phone has more than enough charge. I’ve also tried to put it into recovery mode but the same thing happens. I think it’s a display issue but I could be wrong, and it could be the battery. Please help.
Solution: If the same issue occurs in recovery mode then the problem isn’t software related. You probably need to have the display of your phone replaced. I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S5 Screen Turns Yellow
Problem: My phone screen keeps turning yellow. before it used to return back to normal after a minute but now it is not going back to the normal screen.
Solution: Try checking if the same issue occurs when your phone is in Safe Mode. If the screen does not turn yellow in this mode then the problem could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the screen still turns yellow in this mode then you should try doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before the reset. After the reset don’t install anything on the phone yet. Check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then the problem could be caused by a faulty display. I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.
S5 Keyboard Gets Stuck On Screen
Problem: If I lock the screen or use the pull down menu while the keyboard is open, it leaves the keyboard on top so that I can’t click some notifications or have trouble unlocking the screen around the keyboard
Solution: It looks like this issue could be caused by some form of corrupt data. Try clearing the cache and data of the keyboard app of your phone. You should also wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode as a follow up. Once this is done check if the issue still occurs.
One last troubleshooting step that you can do should the issue still occur at this point is a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
