Note 4 Shuts Down On Its Own

Problem: When I first purchased phone in January 2015 brand new (so not sure what android version it had installed at that point)but it worked GREAT.  Then when the new Android upgrades started it began shutting down at about the 15% battery life meter area.  I will try to restart and it would get to the splash screen and shut back off. I have done everything except go back to the original version of Android the phone came with originally in January 2015. I have done countless soft reset very mini hard reset and it appears to have no effect on this particular defect. Also wants the phone has gone past the 15% and shut itself off once you plug it in you must leave it plugged in for at least 15 to 20 minutes before it will actually start up and stay running. If you are going to charge and use at the same time the phone charges EXTREMELY  slowly.

Solution: I’m not sure what type of mini hard reset you did however this kind of issue can be caused by two factors and that is the phone software or hardware. The first thing you need to do is to suspect if the software is causing this problem. To do this you have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done do not install anything in your phone yet. Check first if the issue still occurs.

If the reset fails to resolve the problem the next thing to do is to replace the phone battery. This battery usually degrades over time and the one you are using could be faulty already.

If the above steps fail then you might want to try flashing the previous software back to your phone. This is to eliminate the possibility of the update causing the problem. Instructions on how to flash your phone software can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.

If the above steps fail then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center.

Note 4 Does Not Charge Turn On

Problem: I don’t Know the android version my phone is in because I can’t even open it. I put my phone to charge and the charging logo appeared since it was on 0%. After a couple of minutes I took the charger off and it didn’t open it got stuck with the red light. Whatever I do it doesn’t open. I just let it back charge until the morning however it is still stuck. Something similar has happened before but never not being able to reopen it. Can you help me please? Thank you

Solution: If your phone does not seem to charge or turn on you should first remove the battery and microSD card (if your phone has one installed). Press and hold the power button and volume button simultaneously for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Once this is done reinsert just the phone battery then check if the phone turns on.

If your phone doesn’t turn on proceed with checking the charging port of your phone. Clean this port using a can of compressed air or by blowing into it using a straw. The aim here is to take out any dust or debris that could be causing this problem. Charge the phone for 20 minutes. Make sure to use a different charging cord and wall charger when charging your device.

If the phone still does not turn on or charge then try using a new battery on your phone.

If the above steps fail then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Discharging Not Charging

Problem: I have a note 4 and it’s always worked very well for me  about 2 weeks ago it began losing power very quickly and not charging at all. Went to retech and found out the charging port was messed up and that it would only charge with a certain charger. It was ok for a couple of days. Then the battery wouldn’t hold a charge. So I just went back and got a new battery, it’s keeping a charge better but still loses power very very quickly. Just writing this message has already taken it down 3%, and I haven’t even been typing for 2 mins yet. I have downloaded battery saving apps and app killers, nothings helped, tried taking out the battery and resetting but when I put the battery back in there’s always a lower battery percentage than what I started out with, tried force stopping a lot of apps, Uninstaller some, moved others to SD card, cleared out some junk files, cleared caches, I just don’t know what else to do  I love this phone and don’t have the money for a new one and don’t want a new one. Plz help me fix this phone.

Solution: For this kind of issue you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done do not install any apps in your phone. Try checking first if the issue still occurs. If it does then the problem could be hardware related. If the phone has a shorted circuit then it could cause this battery drain problem. If this is the case then you should have your phone checked at a service center.

Note 4 Switches Off

Problem: I was sitting under a dryer that was too hot and I assume that my phone overheated because it was very hot and wouldn’t switch on properly.  It would switch on show the Samsung logo then switch off and immediately shown the Samsung logo and switch off again,  this continued with no end , at times it would identify the sim card and i was able to log on and when I try to quickly make a call it resumes its old pattern of switching on and off . Someone got the battery replaced and it switched on again and started working,  but now it just randomly switches off and i have to open the back and remove the battery , put it on again and switch on the phone and it resumes normal functioning.  It won’t switch on unless I’ve taken the battery out and returned it. The battery itself doesn’t seem to completely fit the allocated battery slot, it’s left a little space on the vertical left side , could this be the problem? If I get a new well fitting battery will the problems stop? At first it used to switch off when I used the S Pen to take screenshots but now I’ve noticed  that it switches off when I’m using any app , is this an internal problem or is it the battery? I’m afraid to get it looked at cause I don’t want to lose my data.  Thanks.

Solution: The battery should fit your phone tightly without leaving any space. If this isn’t the case then the battery that you have could be bulging which could be a potential hazard. I suggest you get the official Samsung battery for your phone then check if the issue still occurs.

If you still experience the same issue after getting a new battery then the next step is to check if the phone software is causing the problem by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your data before doing the reset. Once the reset is done immediately check if the issue still occurs.

If the above steps fail to fix the issue then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center.

Note 4 Turns Off On Its Own

Problem: Suddenly, for the last few days, my phone is not at all working good.  The touch is suddenly not working and getting switched off.  I recently done the factory reset, but still the issue persists.  After its get shut down, I press power button but sometimes it will not gets on.  Then I will remove the battery and put it back and then will power on, it works.  I am not sure whether this is hardware problem or software problem.

Solution: Since you have already performed a factory reset which didn’t fix the issue you should try getting a new battery as the one you are using might already be faulty. If the problem persists then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center as this could already be a hardware issue.

Note 4 Battery Dies Too Quickly

Problem: I just bought this phone from Amazon and I bought it brand new not refurbished or anything and it seems like the battery dies too quickly. I turned my phone off today and had 60 percent then next thing you know, I turn my phone back on and it has 59 then when I start using it, it jumps down to 29 percent. Idk how this is even possible. Ik it can’t be my phone because I bought it brand new.

Solution: This seems to be a battery issue. Try backing up your phone data first then do a factory reset. After the reset check if the battery drain issue still occurs. If it does then I suggest you get a new battery.
