Note 4  Screen Not Responding

Problem: My phone has been lagging/freezing and at first seemed to be an issue with the touch screen. When I would swipe to unlock from the lock screen, it wouldn’t respond and if it did, it was slow to unlock. Also when i’m using the keyboard it will freeze and take a while to catch up. It also has rebooted randomly and sometimes won’t even power back up after it reboots (gets stuck on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 screen) and i have to remove the battery and try again. Uninstalled several apps and it doesn’t seem to help. I have been having these issues for 2 days now. Thanks for your help!

Solution: There’s a possibility that this issue is software related. Listed below are the recommended troubleshooting steps that you need to perform in cases like this. Try to perform each of the step listed below. Move to the next step should the issue still persist.

  • Start the phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. This will delete the temporary data stored in your phone which could be causing the problem. Restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs.
  • Check if an app you installed is causing this problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone is operating in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it’s most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Screen Black After Drop

Problem: Greetings! I accidently dropped my Samsung 4G LTE, and the screen went black.  In the interim, it still audios – I can hear text notifications, it rings when a person calls, etc.  But I cannot respond as the screen never lights open. I have tried “reset” attempts, I have removed the battery, replaced and tried again.  It is attached to the electric cord so as to keep power current….   Any suggestions?

Solution: It’s very likely that the display got damaged when the phone was dropped. One indication that this is the reason is because the phone is still getting notification sounds but the screen is black. The only way to fix this issue is to have the display checked at a service center. Sometimes the connection between the screen and the motherboard gets loose so it just needs to be reconnected. The worst case scenario is that you will need to have the display replaced.

Note 4 Retrieving Data When Screen Is Damaged

Problem: So I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Screen is absolutely smashed. I have a MHL  Multi Adapter. I have figured out that the phone still works. I connected it up to HDMI and the screen comes on on the TV it is attached too. Problem is now that I know it works but it is so smashed I don’t want a repair, just to get the data off of it. What are my options since I have never had a Bluetooth Mouse attached to it and although the MHL adapter I have has a USB, and Memory card slots that I understand that if you use HDMI then the USB peripherals won’t work on the Multi adapters like I have. Any help? Thank You.

Solution: Have you tried connecting the phone to a computer with the Smart Switch software running? If the phone is detected by the software then you will be able to retrieve its data. Otherwise, it’s difficult to retrieve the data from a phone with a broken display since this display acts as an input controller that takes in your commands. The best way to proceed in this case is to have the display replaced at a service center.

Note 4 Touchscreen Not Responding

Problem: I have a one inch band of the touchscreen that isn’t responsive. I have also keystroke issues with the area and the e and r section of the touchscreen. It either picks up the pressure or doesn’t and often when it does it registers a double tap.

Solution: Before doing any troubleshooting make sure to remove any screen protector that the phone might have since this could be causing the problem.

If your phone does not have a screen protector then this problem is either caused by the phone software or a damaged digitizer. What you need to do first in this case is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done do not install anything in your phone yet. Check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Screen Does Not Turn On

Problem: Came from T-Mobile unlocked phone rooted phone went to Cricket still I’m on Cricket using the same SIM card that was in the Note 4 I’m using a small LG which is besides the point. Point is no screen coming on no power light coming on and the one two three four five method seems to have not be working I know I have must have a power button problem which from many places I hear is a problem with the Galaxy Note 4 so I will be taking the phone apart just a peek and see if the power button is the actual problem. If that is the problem hopefully all will be well please respond with any other advice. Thank you very much.

Solution: Before taking apart the phone and checking the power button make sure to do the easy troubleshooting steps first which I have listed below. Move to the next step if the problem still persist.

  • Remove the battery and microSD card ( If you have one installed) then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then check if the phone will turn on.
  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or by blowing into it using a straw. Charge the phone for 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger. Try to turn on your phone.
  • Check if the phone is able to turn on in recovery mode. If you can access this mode then do a factory reset. This will delete your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy first.

If the above steps fail then you should proceed with checking the power button.

Note 4 Screen Very Sensitive

Problem: My screen over reads my touches. When i try to text I can’t hit one letter no matter how well I hit the letter it reads me hitting multiple surrounding letters. Makes it very hard to text have to keep deleting the unwanted letters.

Solution: Try checking the touch sensitivity setting of the phone since it might be set too high. Reduce the sensitivity if necessary.

  • Go to Settings
  • Go to Display and wallpaper
  • Make sure that the Increase touch sensitivity option does not have a check mark

If the issue remains then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done do not install anything in your phone just yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then this might already a hardware related problem. For cases like this you should bring the phone to a service center and have it  checked.
