Note 4 microSD Card Not Working Properly

Problem: Hi, my samsung micro sd card 128 gb is not working properly. Failed to move or copy files, or files simply disappeared, there is no folder structure. I have no app running on card, i setup camera to save pictures on card. It worked for few min. Then sd card is empty. What to do?  Best regards

Solution:  Try to check if the card is working properly by taking it out of your phone then having your computer read it. You will need a card reader to do this. Using your computer try to check if you are able to transfer files to the card. If it doesn’t work then the card might be causing the problem. Try to check if you are able to copy the contents of the card to your computer then format the card. You should format the card even if you are able to move or copy files to the card so that you can use it as a fresh cars on your phone.

Once the card has been formatted reinsert it back to your phone then check if the issue still occurs.

Another factor that can cause this problem is a software glitch. To check if this is the case you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done check if the issue still occurs.

You might have to replace the card with a new one should the problem still persist.

Note 4 SD Card Unmounted

Problem: Yesterday I could not open my sd card to see my pictures.  I looked in the storage settings and it says sd card unmounted. I turned off my phone and took the battery and sd card out ( no corrosion, but the stickers on the battery and in the battery tray show red x’s. ). But the phone has not been wet.

Solution: The red x marks on the sticker will only appear if it has been exposed to water. Let’s set this information aside first since you mentioned that the phone has not been wet. Moving to troubleshooting the microSD card try inserting another microSD card in your phone. If the phone still does not read or detect the card then the problem could be hardware related. The red x marks in the sticker might also be related to the microSD card not being read by the phone. If this is the case then you should have the phone checked at a service center.

If the new microSD card can be read by the phone without any issues then the problem could be caused by the old microSD card. You can try to format this card then check if the problem disappears ( make sure to backup the contents of the card).

Note 4 SD Card Removed

Problem: When i first got my phone i bought sd card as well and my phone recognised and it was working fine. Recently my phone kept on showing message in notification saying sd card removed insert new one when i already have got an sd card inserted. I tried fixing the problem by going into setting/ storage and selecting mount sd card but nothing happened. I even tried restarting by taking battery out and waiting for 10 seconds or more then switching back on again but yet no luck. Please let me know if there is any solution to this.

Solution: Try taking out the microSD card from your phone the insert it again. If the issue remains then perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below. Move to the next step should the issue still persist.

  • Check if the microSD card is working by letting your computer read it. You will need a card reader to do this. If the card can’t be read then try to format it. You should also consider getting a new microSD card.
  • Try to check if the phone software is causing this issue by backing up your phone data and doing a factory reset.
  • Try using a different microSD card on your phone.

Note 4 No Available Space To Download Update

Problem: I have a memory card installed.  I am getting a message that AT&T Software Update Available.  No Available space to download.  The SD card has available space of 22.21GB.  I don’t know how to move apps to the SD card.  The device used space is 10.61GB, Cached data is 80.10MB  Available device space 13.37GB. what can I do to make memory available.

Solution: The microSD card available space will not matter in this case since it is the internal storage space that is needed. You can try to free up some more space by uninstalling apps that you don’t regularly use. You should also move videos, photos, and music files from the internal storage to the microSD card.

Another effective method of gaining internal storage space is by wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.

If the above steps fail then I suggest that you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

Note 4 Won’t Read microSD Card

Problem: After a thunderstorm Sunday night, my phone has been awful. It stutters, locks up, turns itself off and on, gets really hot (especially when charging), and now it won’t read the microSD card I bought last night to backup my files (which it wouldn’t let me do anyway). I don’t want to have to factory reset it, but I feel like I have no choice.

Solution: Did your phone get wet during the thunderstorm? Were you charging the phone when the thunderstorm started? Both conditions can cause this type of issue. If your phone gets wet then it could affect certain components inside the device. Power spikes or surges are also most likely to occur during thunderstorms which could have a nasty effect on the phone.

To troubleshoot this issue I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install anything in your phone yet. Try to check if the issues still occur.

For the microSD card, you should try to insert a different microSD card in your phone.

If the problem still persists after the reset then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center.

Note 4 Memory Component Replacement

Problem: I have a problem with me Samsung note 4 and I being told that I need to replace the   Memory Component. Is it a common problem with the note 4. What is a Fair offer to replace the Memory Component. Is it worth to repair? Is the problem would not Come back?

Solution: The memory of the phone is permanently soldered to its motherboard and does not break easily. If this memory is damaged ( RAM or Internal storage) then you will need to have the whole board replaced. An original Samsung replacement motherboard usually costs less than $100.
