Well, the #GalaxyS7 and the #GalaxyS7edge have been available for quite some time now. #Samsung has now mentioned that the two flagships have sold about 26 million units this quarter (basically since they were launched). This has translated to an operating profit of $3.5 billion from the mobile division alone, which is pretty good considering the company’s dwindling profits over the past few years.
Needless to say, this will be Samsung’s best quarter in terms of revenues for about two years, so the Galaxy S7 duo have certainly done their job in the market. The company didn’t specify sales of each model, but this is enough to go with. Naturally, the aforementioned profits also include the mid-ranged and budget smartphones that are sold by the company on a global scale, so the credit can’t solely go to the two flagships.
It will be interesting to see if the Galaxy S7 duo will manage to break Samsung’s previous best of 70 million units sold in a calendar year (Galaxy S4 in 2013). There’s still some time left for that, although we feel the demand for the S7 flagships will come down once the Galaxy Note 7 is released next month.
