#Samsung recently announced a new range of blazing fast UFS cards which could revolutionize expandable storage. A new report is now claiming that the Galaxy Note 7 could be featuring a hybrid microSD + UFS card slot, just as we had speculated last week.
It is being said that the Korean manufacturer has designed a new socket that could accommodate both microSD cards as well as the UFS 1.0 based cards. However, it’s still an early report, so we can’t be too sure about this right now.
But given that Samsung has already announced the UFS storage cards just a few weeks before the arrival of the Note 7, it seems logical that its next flagship will support it. UFS 1.0 based cards are basically 5x faster than standard microSD cards, making them ideal for transferring large amounts of data. While most manufacturers are shifting focus onto cloud storage, it’s realistic of Samsung to expand on current tech like expandable storage.
It’s interesting that only last year we saw Samsung shying away from microSD card slots (with the Galaxy S6 series and the Note 5). The company has done a complete U-turn since then and seems to be focusing on expandable storage.
Do you think Samsung will use this hybrid card slot with the new Galaxy Note 7?
