Samsung Galaxy S6 Not Charging Not Turning On Issue & Other Related Problems

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S6 is the first flagship model of the company that departs from its previous flagship designs. This device now sports a non-user removable battery and doesn’t come with a microSD card slot. In terms of design, this makes the phone more solid and streamlined. Some issues however can occur such as the user not being able to replace the battery easily. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S6 not charging not turning on issue & other related problems. We have gathered several issues of this nature that we have recently received from our readers and have addressed them below.

S6 Not Charging Not Turning On

Problem: Last night I plugged in my S6 as I always do and when I woke up in the morning I noticed that the battery was at 73%.At first I thought that the power might have gone out during the night  but unfortunately that wasn’t so. After the battery run out and the S6 turned off (I had been using it without a problem) when I tried to charge it,it wouldn’t charge. At first it showed the battery sign with the bolt in the middle but there was no green coming out of the bottom of the screen. And when I tried to turn it on while charging it would go to the lock screen and then turn off after about 5-10 seconds (when I unplugged it once it turn off immediately).I also noticed that the sign in the top right shows 0% battery and not charging. I tried charging it with a different charger (the one that I use has the original head (sorry I don’t really know what it’s called in English) and a Nokia cable) but the same would happen. I think that it is also worth mentioning that I always charge my phone during the night and lately I’ve noticed overheating problems. I would really appreciate a response from you.

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to clean the charging port of your phone. This port may have some dirt or debris in it that is preventing the phone from getting charged. When cleaning the port you can use a can of compressed air or blow to it using a straw. Once this is done make charge the phone for at least 20 minutes. Make sure to use a charging cord that is known to work when charging the phone. If you still don’t get any response from the device then try simulating a battery pull. This is done by pressing and holding both the power and volume down button for at least 7 seconds. The phone should restart after this.

If the issue still persists even after performing the steps listed above then this problem could be caused by a faulty battery. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to replace the battery of this phone easily. I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Not Turning On Gets Hot When Charged

Problem: hi .. my phone has just stopped working . I went to check if I had any messages and phone was off so I tried to turn it on and nothing .. I tried charging it even tho it had a lot of charge on it and still nothing the phone just got really hot .. I have recently had a baby and all my photos are on my phone .. I have tried plugging it into my computer but again nothing just getting hot again. I am so upset as it is a miracle my baby made it into the world after so many complications and I just can not lose my photos . please can you help

Solution: For this issue you will need to follow the same troubleshooting steps we have suggested for the problem listed above. Try cleaning the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or by blowing to it using a straw. This will take out any dirt or debris in the port that could prevent the phone from charging. Try charging the phone for 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger. If the phone still does not turn on and it gets hot then it’s possible that there may be some shorted circuit in the device. I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Constant Restart Loop

Problem: Phone in a constant restart loop, Turns on, literally 5 seconds after completed restart, shuts down then turns on automatically. I have wiped cache partition, gone into safety mode, and have read and watched so many tutorials on how to fix this problem. I’ve already done a factory reset using the “Hold Up volume. power button, and home button” as well. And done the entire odin procedure (making sure i used the correct OS which samsung provided, Sprint), but the phone continues to constantly restart even after this. Do you have any other procedures i can try?

Solution:It looks like you’ve already performed all of the troubleshooting steps that can be done without opening the device. It looks like this could be caused by a bad battery or a faulty phone hardware. I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have them take a look at your device.

S6 Heats Up Does Not Turn On

Problem: Was charging using official Samsung fast charger and updating apps at same time. Heated up very hot. Won’t start. Won’t boot in safe mode or any mode. Tried all those options holding buttons together. Tried charging with another Samsung charger but still not charging

Related Problem: My phone was working fine and I put it on charge when I went to bed. When I woke up my phone was really hot and wouldn’t turn on. No lights come on when I put it on charge and none of the resets is working.

Solution: Try cleaning the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or by blowing to it using a straw. Once the port is free of any debris or dirt charge it for 20 minutes using a different charging cord and charger. If the phone still heats up and does not turn on then this could already be a hardware related issue. I suggest you bring your phone to a service center if this is the case.

S6 Only Charges Wirelessly

Problem: My phone only charges with wireless and when I try to fast charge with cable supplied via PC and mains nothing happens. I have checked the cable which works fine with partners S6.

Solution: It looks like there is something wrong with the charging port of the phone. Try cleaning this port using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol. Once the port is clean charge the phone for 20 minutes using a different charging cord and charger. If the problem still occurs then you have to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked. The possible factors that could cause this problem is faulty charging port.

S6 Charged Overnight Not Turning On

Problem: plugged in at night, in morning phone will not come on. has a green light on top left. I have pushed and held on button, but will not come on.

Solution: Try cleaning the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or by blowing to it using a straw. Once this is done charge your phone for 20 minutes using a different charging cord and charger. Once the 20 minutes is done try pressing and holding the power button and volume down button simultaneously for at least 7 seconds. If the phone still does not turn on then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it  checked.
