S5 Apps Lock Up

Problem: I have apps that lock up (facebook) when i do a restart the program will operate for a while and then shut down again. I stopped at a store they told me to backup my system and do a factory reset (this got worse with the last update. They did confirm that my system is up to date) .  I have done this twice and is still happening.  I have only had the phone for almost 4 months and it is getting annoying having to restart all the time and then doing the factory reset.

Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it has then try removing it then observe if the same problem still occurs. You should also try starting your phone in Safe mode then check if any of your apps lock up in this mode. If you don’t experience any issues then a third party app you downloaded and installed in your device could be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

S5 Solitaire Apps Not Running After Marshmallow Update

Problem: After upgrading to marshmallow, I’m having trouble with solitaire apps.  when I launch it, it looks like it’s starting, then a screen appears that reads: “Internal Service Failure – An internal error occurred.  This can be caused by a lack of network connectivity.  Please make sure you have a good network connection.” I tried deleting and reinstalling the new app – didn’t fix it.  I tried downloading a different solitaire game from the Google App store and every single game gets the same message.  Ugh!  Any thoughts or ideas?  I’d appreciate anything you’ve got.  Thanks.

Solution: What you need to do first in this case is to check if network connectivity issues is causing this problem.

  • Try running the app when your phone is connected to a different Wi-Fi network.
  • Try running the app when your phone is connected to your mobile data subscription.

Once you have eliminated the connection as causing the problem the next step is to verify if the update is causing this issue. What you need to do first is to wipe the cache partition of your phone in recovery mode. This action takes out the temporary data stored in your device which could be causing the problem.

If the above steps fail then you should consider doing a factory reset as this issue could be caused by some form of old software data that has not been completely removed and is causing a conflict with the new software version. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

S5 Can’t Add Photos To Facebook App Album

Problem: When I create an album in the Facebook app, there is no way to add photos to it. I run the social media for my job, so this is a page linked to a profile that I’m trying to create albums on. I had the same phone two weeks ago and I could do it no problem, but I unfortunately had to get a new phone. Also, when I click on my notifications or settings, I often get a blank white screen. I had this problem on my other phone too.

Solution: You need to verify first if the issue is connection related. Have you tried checking if the issue occurs when your phone is connected to a different Wi-Fi network or through your mobile data subscription? If the problem occurs then it could be caused by the app itself. Try clearing the cache and data of the app and see if this works. If the problem persists then uninstall the Facebook app and download an updated version from the Google Play Store.

S5 Facebook App Not Working

Problem: Facebook app touch screen doesn’t work. EG I can’t search, I can’t tap into notifications or share anything via Facebook. Has been happening for a few weeks and seems to be getting worse. I have tried re-installing it but hasn’t helped. Would appreciate advice! Thanks

Solution: Does this issue occur only when using the Facebook app? If it does then there’s something wrong with the app itself. Since you have already uninstalled it and reinstalled a fresh version ( must be from the Google Play Store) which failed to resolve the issue you may have to wait for a new app update to fix this issue. You can also temporarily use any of the alternative Facebook apps available in the Google Play Store.

S5 Not Sending Snapchats

Problem: So here is the problem.  Recently my friends have not been getting my snapchats.  My phone says the video or picture is delivered but they aren’t going through. Now I can swipe right and still send them messages and they receive those just fine.  Also I can still receive both video, picture, and messages from them. I’ve tried uninstalling, shut down my phone, unfriending and refriending.  I’m not sure what to do next. Any suggestions? p.s snapchat was freezing and crashing before this started happening

Solution: Try using Snapchat using a different Internet connection. Connect your phone to a different Wi-Fi network then test Snapchat. You should also test the app using your mobile data subscription. You should also make sure that the app you have installed is the latest version. To make sure that it is just uninstall the app and install a fresh version from the Google Play Store.

If the problem still occurs after following the troubleshooting steps listed above then you should contact Snapchat regarding your concern.

S5 Unfortunately Messages Has Stopped Error When Using Emoji

Problem: When I am using the preinstalled Message app and attempt to use an emoji from the ones within the app, it says “Unfortunately Messages has stopped” then it closes (deleting the entire message that i’ve just typed in).

Solution: What you need to do first in this case is to clear the cache and data of the messaging app. This takes out the temporary data stored in the app which could be causing the problem. It’s also best to follow this up by wiping the cache partition of the phone from recovery mode. Once this is done check if the issue still occurs.

If the problem still remains then start your phone in Safe Mode. From here try to check if the issue still occurs. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an a third party app installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the above steps fail to fix the issue then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

S5 Email Unread Notification Keeps Appearing

Problem: Hi, the problem is with the email client. I receive mail and there is the usual email icon with a small number indicating the unread emails that have arrived. I open the email client, read the messages, delete those that don’t interest me and I keep in my InBox the messages that I want to keep. I exit and the email icon correctly no longer indicates that there are unread messages. Then here is the problem: after a short while there’s a notification that there are unread messages in my InBox. The email icon shows a small number. So, I enter the email app and find that I haven’t received new messages but that some (usually the last) messages have become “unread”! It’s annoying! Can you help?

Solution: This issue is most likely caused by some glitch in the email app itself. Just clear the cache and data of the email app. Once this is done you will have to setup your email again.
