Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Screen Not Responding Issue & Other Related Problems

Today we will be concentrating on the Galaxy Note 5 screen not responding issue & other related problems. What happens in this case is that whenever the user touches the screen it doesn’t respond at all. We will be addressing this issue and other screen related problems sent to us by our readers.

Note 5 Screen Not Responding

Problem: The whole bottom bar where space bar is doesn’t recognize it thinks I’m hitting the button above it but only that row everything else works fine just the spacer numbers button and enter button doesn’t recognize

Solution: Does you phone have a screen protector installed? Try removing it as this could be causing the issue. If the phone does not have a screen protector and the issue still occurs then follow the recommended troubleshooting steps below for this type of issue. Move to the next step if the current step fails to fix the problem.

  • Check first if an app you installed is causing this problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. While the phone is in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue disappears in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If after following the steps above the issue still occurs then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center.  If I were to guess I’d say the problem could be with the phone digitizer.

Note 5 Screen Won’t Respond To Finger

Problem: Screen won’t respond to fingers and respond only to the pen however the menu button and back button respond to fingers and pen

Related Problem: Finger touch screen does not work.  S pen does work.  Same issue back in April.  Extended warranty through Best Buy, but Samsung covered replacement device without deductible.  Phone was out of factory warranty at the time.  Took phone to Beat Buy last Wednesday.  Geek Squad didn’t keep phone, stated he would do research.  It was at this time he called to suggest Factory Reset.  Option done twice without changes.  Also tried holding power and down key without remedying problem.

Related Problem: I bought my phone 2 days ago today I wake up found the screen not responding to my fingers only to the S pen and then in the left down corner I found a purple-black color covering that area and its getting bigger but the phone has no scratches or broken places

Related Problem: My touch screen does not respond to my finger tips but does on the Spen. My home and lock/power buttons are also not responding. The volume button does. Please help!

Solution: In most cases like this the problem is caused by a defective digitizer. One troubleshooting step that you can do is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If the issue still occurs after the reset then you need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked. It’s very likely that you will have to get the digitizer replaced.

Note 5 Screen Turns On Randomly

Problem: My screen comes on randomly and I can’t figure out why. I have blocked all app notifications I could and the ones I couldn’t block I set to hide on locked screen. I’d like to have some notifications on but I thought they were the issue. Any thoughts would be appreciated. This only started after updating to Marshmallow. Thank you.

Solution: Try starting your phone in Safe mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it’s possible that it is caused by an app you installed in your phone. You should find out what app this is and change its settings or uninstall it. If the issue still occurs in Safe Mode then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. If this still fails to fix the issue then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
