Note 4 Turns Off When Unplugged From Charger

Problem: The phone reads 100% battery and will work as long as it stays on charge as soon as it’s unplugged it stays on for about 2 minutes then shuts off and starts restarting and keeps doing it until plugged in again

Solution: The first thing you need to do in this case is to check if the problem is caused by a glitch in the phone software. This usually causes the restarting problem. You will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done do not install anything in your phone yet. Check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then the next step is to check if a faulty battery is causing this issue. For this you need to replace the phone battery with a new one.

If after performing the steps listed above the issue still occurs then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center as this may already be a hardware related issue.

Note 4 Not Charging

Problem: My phone shows it is charging…yet it’s not taking charge. I had it plugged in all night with a lightning charger that came with my phone and it only took it to 83%. I’m now using it (still plugged in) and it’s dropped to 64% in 20 min of use. I did the soft boot last night and this morning. Is this a battery or phone issue? Thank you in advance for your help.

Solution: What you need to do in this case is to make sure that the charging port of your phone is free of any dirt or debris as this could interfere with the charging process. Use a can of compressed air or blow into the port using a straw to clean it. Try to check if the phone charges.

Another possible cause of this problem is the charging cord being used. The cord is known to get damaged if it is constantly bent or coiled. Replace this cord with one that is known to work. While you’re checking on this cord you might as well try using a different wall charger too.

If the issue still persists proceed with checking the phone. Try using a new battery as the one you have right now could be faulty. If this doesn’t work then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center.

Note 4 Turns Off Randomly When Opening Apps

Problem: my phone turns off randomly when i open apps, especially apps that use the camera. My phone can only turn on when it is plugged in. If i turn on my phone without it plugged in, it will keep turning on and off. I can’t even turn my phone on anymore. Have not replaced the battery yet. I tried the options that are on this website and they have not helped with my phone.

Solution: When you say you have tried the options we provided I assume you have already done a factory reset. If this is the case then the next option for you to do is to get a new battery as the one you are using right now could be faulty. In case the issue still occurs even with a new battery then you should have your phone checked at a service center as this could already be a hardware related problem.

Note 4 Charges Extremely Slow

Problem: My fast charge tick box is greyed out. I can’t turn it on. My phone charges extremely slow. From 18% to 50% it would take four hours. My power is going down by 2% within 12 minutes it doubles it when I’m using the phone. I’m using an original Samsung charger it’s three months old. My power goes down even when a charger is plugged in (this happens when I’m using the phone for few minutes) please assist.

Solution: In this type of issue the first thing that you need to do is to verify if the problem is caused by dirt or debris stuck in the phone’s charging port. Clean this port using a can of compressed air or by blowing into it using a straw. You should also check if the charging cord that you are using is causing this problem by replacing it with one that is known to work. While you are at this you should also try using a different wall charger.

Another possible reason why the phone is experiencing this issue is because of a faulty battery. Try getting a new battery and see if this fixes the problem.

One last troubleshooting step you should consider is a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this.

Note 4 Takes Multiple Tries To Turn On

Problem: Hi, my note 4 keeps on freezing, it is going to work when i remove the battery, then plug it back in, it wont turn on. It will take multiple tries before it turns on.  Then when i leave it idle for a few minutes. It wont turn on again. Also when I am trying to use the restart function of the phone. Its not working to. It is just turning off. It wont turn on. Until i remove the battery. When i tried to use a different battery. It is going to turn on in the first try. But the restart function is still not working. Can you determine whether the problem is within the battery or the motherboard? Thanks

Solution: You will need to check first if the phone software is causing this problem by doing a factory reset. Don’t forget to backup your phone data prior to doing this. If after the reset you still experience the same issue then try using a new battery on your phone. If the problem still occurs then you should have your phone checked at a service center as this could already be a hardware related problem.

Note 4 Keeps On Restarting After Getting Wet

Problem: I got the phone wet, it powers up fine, but wont move beyond the startup sign, it buzzes and restarts over and over. I tried to do a reboot but it just restarts back to start up screen. I cannot get it to reboot and resolve the issue. Help please

Solution: Try starting the phone in Safe Mode. If you are able to access this mode then backup your phone data from here. Since the phone is able to start in this mode then the problem could be caused by a third party app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the phone can’t access Safe Mode then try going to recovery mode. If you are able to access this mode then I suggest you do a factory reset. Take note that this deletes your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy first.

If you are unable to access the recovery mode then try using a different battery on your device.

If the issue still persists at this point then the phone may have suffered some water damage. I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
