Note 4 Can’t Access System Apps
Problem: After OS upgrade cannot access system apps “Phone” or “Contacts”. Immediately after updating to Ver 6.0.1 when I open the app “Phone” I get nothing but a white screen with green banner across the top (not text or icons). I then tried the app “Contacts” and get white screen with green banner with icons “Keypad”, “Log”, “Favourites” and “Contacts” with search bar below. In the white frame of the screen I get the message “Contact list is being updated to reflect the change of language.” and a clockwise spinning circle. I did not change language in settings. I have left spinning for over 1 hour but problem continues. Result cannot use Phone app to make calls nor can I view contact records. At this point everything else with my Note 4 seems to be working OK on OS 6.0.1. I performed a wipe of the cache partition but same error occurs after reboot of the system. Any suggestions? Thank you
Solution: Since this issue occured right after a software update and wiping the cache partition fails to fix the problem I recommend that you do a factory reset. This reset will delete any old software data that could still be in the phone and is likely causing this problem. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset as all the data in your phone will be deleted in the process.
Note 4 Font Is Not Supported
Problem: Whenever I download ANY font, this is the message… “This font is not supported. Contact the provider. Uninstall this app?”. So I’m stuck using the few fonts that came in the phone.
Solution: There are specific fonts that work with this device. To make sure that the font you are downloading works with your phone make sure that it is indicated in its description that it works with the Note 4.
You can install additional custom fonts from the font style setting of your device.
- Go to Settings, tap Display and Wallpaper > Font > Font Style
- On the Select font menu, tap Download.
- You will see a list of fonts which you can purchase and download from the Galaxy App store. Click on the font which you like.
Alternatively, you can also download fonts from the Google Play Store. Just search for Samsung Galaxy Fonts on the Play Store to narrow the list of fonts that works on your device.
Note 4 Music Apps Not Working After Marshmallow Update
Problem: Just updated to marshmallow and since the update, no music services will play. Similar to the listed problem that I read on your site, they okay one song of part of one song and then stop. I have tried wifi on and wifi off. I have tried turning off and on power saving mode, wifi, Bluetooth, the phone itself, etc. I have wiped the cache. It’s not just one music app either. I attempted to use Google play music, Samsung milk music, and Pandora, all having the exact same issue. Any thoughts or ideas? This is a real problem as my online is my main source for music.
Solution: Before doing any troubleshooting make sure that your phone is connected to a stable Internet connection source. You should try connecting your phone to different Wi-Fi networks as well as use your mobile data subscription to eliminate any connection related problems that could be causing this issue.
Since this problem occured right after a software update then I suggest you do a factory reset to resolve the issue. Just make sure to backup your phone data first before proceeding with this step.
Note 4 Not Receiving Text Notification From Facebook
Problem: I am no longer receiving any text notifications from Facebook when someone posts on my page or anything like that. I used to receive them all the time but for some reason it has stopped working. I’ve already done a factory reset and still nothing. Please help!
Solution: This does not seem to be a phone related issue. Have you checked if the setting to get text notifications has been activated on your account? If it is activated then it’s either Facebook is not sending the text or your carrier is not sending the Facebook text notifications to your number. You may also want to check the spam or blocked folder list of your phone and see if the Facebook messages are in there.
Note 4 Bluetooth Turns Off On Its Own
Problem: i’ve recently bought a jbl flip 2 bluetooth speaker, and yes it pairs with my Note 4 without a problem, but after listening to music for about 4 or 5 minutes it disconnects automatically and the bluetooth app turns off. then i reconnect and it continues like this .. i’ve forced the app to stop and wiped the cache partition. But nothing it still disconnecting and turning off automatically. Ps: the jbl flip 2 works normally with my other devices.
Solution: It’s possible that this issue could be caused by a glitch in the phone software. Since you have already wiped the cache partition of your phone which didn’t help then the next thing for you to do is to do a factory reset. Take note that you should backup your phone data first before doing this.
Note 4 Kik Messenger In-App Browser Not Working
Problem: I have kik messenger when i go to web browsing on kik and try open like kikme a chat page it ask me what web browser to open in instead of opening in the kik browsers so i can still chat with people i’ve tried everything to fix this
Solution: This could be caused by an issue with the app itself. Try to clear the cache and data of the Kik app. If this doesn’t fix the problem then proceed with uninstalling the app and downloading a fresh version from the Google Play Store.
Note 4 S Pen Word Definition Not Working
Problem: Hey i saw your post online and thought you might help me. I am using a samsung note 4. A very handy feature of the s pen is that we can select any word by highlighting and choosing options like copy share dictionary etc. Now when selected the dictionary option, there used to be a pop-up which showed the meaning there on. But now, whenever i select the dictionary option after selecting the word, nothing comes up. That very pop-up that used to come over the screen is missing now. I’ve tried uninstalling the dictionary app and also tried factory reset but nothing helped. Please let me know the solution for the same. Thanks!
Solution: Are you using this feature on the stock apps of the phone? Try doing another factory reset ( make sure to backup your phone data first) then immediately check if the issue still occurs. Make sure to download the dictionaries that you want to use and make sure your phone is connected to the Internet when checking. You also need to make sure to use the TouchWiz launcher for this to work.
