S6 Is Not Charging

Problem: Last night i was able to charge my phone. Then i took it off the charger for a while before going to bed and found out my phone is not charging. So i took it into the store today to get looked at and they cleaned the port out and was able to charge the phone. But as soon as i get it back it doesn’t want to do any type of charging at all. I’ve tried multiple chargers and still get the same result.

Solution: If cleaning the charging port of the phone initially fixed the issue then you should start the troubleshooting here. Try to clean this port yourself using a can of compressed air or a cotton bud dipped in alcohol. You can also blow into it using a straw. What you want to do is to take out the dirt or debris that could be in the port which could be causing the problem.

Next, try using a different charging cord when charging your phone. Sometimes in cases like this it is the charging cord that causes the problem since it easily gets damaged especially when it is constantly coiled or bent.

One last troubleshooting step that you can do should the above steps fail is a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy. After the reset check if the phone will charge. If it doesn’t charge then you need to bring the phone back to the service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related issue.

S6 Does Not Turn On

Problem: Hi, well woke up two days ago and my phone was off, (not plugged into charger). went to turn it on and nothing no power no response at all. tried charging and nothing. tried all tips with holding buttons. At one point the battery charge symbol came on but only grey never went to any green, and as soon as i went to do a reset the symbol went back out. left the phone charging hours and nothing. unplugged from charger left alone for hours and the phone is still very warm. Seems like the battery has power and phone is frozen unresponsive?

Solution: Have you tried the battery pull trick on the phone? This is done by pressing and holding the power button and the volume down button together for at least 7 seconds. Release both button after 7 seconds then check if the phone reboots.

If the issue still occurs the next step that you need to do is to check if the phone can start in recovery mode. If you are able to access this mode then I suggest you do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before performing this step.

If the phone is unable to access the recovery mode you need to check if the issue is caused by a drained battery. First, clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol. This takes out any dirt or debris that could be present in this port. Next, charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different wall charger and charging cord. Try to turn on the phone after this.

If after performing the steps listed above the issue still persists then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

S6 Not Turning On After Getting Wet

Problem: I dropped my phone in the toilet for a few seconds and then pulled it out. It shut down, and i dried it slightly and plugged it into the charger. It showed the charging symbol every couple of seconds for about 1 seconds. I then placed it in a bowl of rice, now for about 2 hours. It wont turn on or charge. What should I do?

Solution: If you have already placed the phone in a bowl of rice for at least 48 hours and it still won’t turn on then it’s possible that this device has suffered some water damage. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it examined. The problem could either be with the battery or with the board itself.

S6 Does Not Turn On After Fully Charging

Problem: Phone charged to 100 percent I took it off the charger and it wont come on. No chance of water damage and I tried volume up with power and with home. Volume down with power and home and both volume and power

Solution: If you have already tried to simulate a battery pull which doesn’t help then try connecting your phone to the charger then attempt to turn it on. If it doesn’t work then try to access the recovery mode while the phone is connected to the charger. If you are able to access this mode then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone. This deletes the temporary data stored in the device. Should this step fail then do a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this deletes the phone data so make sure to have a backup copy first.

Should the issue still occur at this point then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Fast Battery Drain

Problem: Draining power excessively fast. Already factory reset. Started 2 days ago. Had problem before. Google warned me so I reset it and that worked. This time….no luck. Reset 2 times. It’s dropping as I’m typing 2 more percent.

Solution: If the factory reset fails to resolve this issue then the most likely cause is a faulty battery. You need to bring your phone to a service center and have the battery replaced.

S6 Not Fast Charging

Problem: I have a replacement S6. My original was damaged. The charger that came with the original phone is only about a year old and was working fine. Now that I have a new S6, the fast charging feature is not working. I dont think its a USB, charger, or phone issue but a system issue since it only started with the new phone. Any tips would be appreciated!

Solution: There are various factors to consider as to why the phone is having this issue. If you think that it is the phone software that is causing this then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below. Move to the next step should the issue still occur.

  • Make sure that the fast charging feature of the phone is activated from the phone settings. Go to Settings – Battery Settings – make sure the Rapid Charging option is checked.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done make sure that the rapid charging option is enabled.

If the above steps fail then it’s time to check the hardware. Perform the steps listed below. Move to the next step should the issue still occur.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol. Charge your phone.
  • Try using a different charging cable
  • Try using a different adaptive fast charging charger.
