S6 Microphone Not Working

Problem: I dropped my phone in water. I have dried it out in rice and everything works except the microphone. I have tried it in safe mode but it didn’t work.  I  don’t want to resort to default factory settings yet. I can’t remove the battery as it is sealed in. Can you help please?

Solution: Since the phone got wet you have to assume that it some components inside the phone got water damaged. In this case it looks like the microphone has been affected since it doesn’t work even in Safe Mode. I would suggest that you perform a factory reset to clear up any software related issues that may be causing this problem. Make sure to have a backup copy of your phone data before doing this.

If the issue still occurs after the reset then this is most likely a hardware related problem already. I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Microphone Too Sensitive

Problem: So, I don’t think the problem is with the microphone of my phone but whenever I put on my headphones my friends tells me that I’m so loud, what they mean is not my voice but something else is making a sound when I’m on my headphones. So I tried to record myself using my earphone mic and even if I’m not talking there’s this super loud sound. Can you guys help me please? I can’t find any same problem as my phone in the internet.

Solution: Since this issue apparently only occurs when you are using the headphones then I suggest you try using a different pair of headphones first. This way you will be able to check if the problem is with the headphones or the phone.

If the same issue occurs even with a different pair of headphones then it’s time to troubleshoot the phone itself. The first thing you will want to do is to start the device in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. This way you can check if an app you installed in the device is causing the problem. Try to check if the issue still occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it is most likely to be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

In case the problem still occurs even in Safe Mode then restart your device. Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset check if the issue still occurs. If it does then this could already be a hardware related issue in which case you should bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

S6 Buzzing Sound Heard When Recording Video

Problem: Hi! My problem is regarding the audio when I record a video with a sound that is too loud, i.e. when I’m in an event with most of the attendees are shouting or cheering. When I watch the recorded vid, I only get a buzz sound. However, when the background sound is not too loud, it is okay. Is it something with the phone setting or is the phone not built for too loud noise. Thanks for the time & help!

Solution: Your phone should not record a buzzing sound even if the background noise is too loud. Here’s what you need to do to resolve this issue. Try to check if the same problem occurs when your phone is in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t occur in Safe Mode then an app you installed in your device could be causing this problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

In case the issue occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest you try clearing the cache and data of the camera app first. If this doesn’t work then backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset do not install anything in your phone just yet. You should first check if the same issue occurs.

S6 Intermittently Beeps

Problem: As of yesterday, my phone will intermittently start to beep…..  it’s not linked to any notification coming in, and still exists even when I turn the Notification reminder from on to off.  It still continues when I clear all my apps that are open and after speaking to Support with Rogers and done a complete backup and restart it still continues……. The only way to stop hearing it is to completely put notifications on silent, but of course then I cannot hear any email or text  notifications.  Please help.

Solution: Try to check first if this sound is caused by an app you installed in your phone by starting the phone in Safe Mode. In this mode the apps you downloaded are disabled. Check if the intermittent beeping sound still occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t happen then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is then change its notification setting if possible.

If you still hear a beeping sound even in Safe Mode then try to check if one of the pre-installed apps in your device is causing this and make the necessary setting changes.

Once you have verified that the issues is not caused by an app then this could be a system related notification. I suggest that you update your phone software first and see if this fixes the problem.

S6 Notification Sound Even While On Silent

Problem: I have my phone on silent, but all of my notifications make sounds. I’ve gone in settings and checked if anything was on but still it is set on silent. My phone goes off while I teach and I need it to be completely silent. Not even on vibrate.  I didn’t have this issue until I recently updated my phone. Thanks!

Solution: Since you mentioned that you have already checked the phone settings and it is indeed in silent mode and that the problem occured right after a software update then this issue could be caused by some old software data that could still be in the device. This old data is now causing a conflict with the new software version which results in this issue. I suggest that you backup your phone data first then do a factory reset.

S6 No Sound During Calls

Problem: There is no sound/volume on inbound calls and callers cannot hear me even when bluetooth headset is used. I have checked the obvious – phone volume is on max, ringtone volume on max

Solution: Start your phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue still occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app installed in your device. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. In case the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset check if the issue still occurs.

In the event that the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the problem then this could already be a hardware issue. I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center.
