S6 Internet Has Become Unstable
Problem: I find that since the update the Internet has become so unstable. No matter what wifi I’m connected to if I try stream from spotify I after 30 seconds it will say “you are not connected” even though I am and I can still use the Internet. What’s apps and emails aren’t sending reliably and even though if I have sync settings on for emails they’re not updating. It’s like Apps aren’t able to connect to the Internet for long but my chrome and Internet Explorer work fine.
Solution: Since this issue occurs while the phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network try deleting the Wi-Fi connection from your phone first then connect to it again. If the issue still occurs then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below. Move to the next step should the issue still occur.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S6 No Data Connection After Marshmallow Upgrade
Problem: Hi! I’m not sure if i am the only one with this issue but since the upgrade of my S6 to Marshmallow I am having issues with 4g connectivity. I have a dual sim model and on both sims I face this issue. I get connected normally and be online. But after a while my 4g only shows outgoing data and no data coming in again. Currently the only way to solve this is setting the sim back to 2g and then reset to 4g/lte. But i have to do this around 6 times per day now. I face it both with my SIM cards. Is there any known solution for this? Thanks a lot for your help!
Solution: I’m glad you mentioned that the issue occurs on two SIM cards with different networks. This means that we can disregard the network side troubleshooting and go straight to the device.
In this case there are two troubleshooting steps that you can do.
- Start your phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of your device. Restart the phone normally then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then move to the next step below.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S6 No Connection When Connected To Home Wi-Fi
Problem: I just moved into a new home and purchased a Netgear C6300 for my modem/router. Everything in the house is working fine as far as connection except for my phone. Some apps work like Facebook and Instagram but youtube never loads and .gifs never start playing. Also, updates won’t start until you disconnect from the wifi. I’ve had other people come to the house and not have any issues with their phones. I’ve tried everything I know and nothing has worked. Please help!
Solution: Have you tried checking if the same issue occurs when your phone is connected to a different Wi-Fi network? If you haven’t tried checking it yet then do so now. This way you will know if the issue is with your router or with your phone.
If the issue is router related then I suggest you double check its settings. You can do this by accessing its administration panel using a web browser.
If the issue is phone related then I suggest you try to start your device in Safe Mode. This allow you to check if the issue is caused by an app you installed in your device. If the problem does not occur in this mode then you need to find out what app is causing this and uninstall it.
In case the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest you do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this.
S6 Not Connecting To Mobile Data
Problem: This phone belonged to my mother before she passed away and she was on ATT. I inherited the phone and began using it with Straight Talk. I’ve had no issues until ATT did an auto update. My mobile data no longer works. I went in and entered the straight talk apn configuration settings, but it still doesn’t work. I even called straight talk to see if the settings had changed, but they had not. As I was entering straight talk’s mobile network settings, I noticed there is an ATT apn that is permanently on the device now. It is grayed out, so no alteration to it can be made. It will not allow me to delete it, nor turn it off. Help! I am about to factory reset to see if that helps!
Solution: We are sorry to hear about your mother. As for the issue that you are having with your device it appears to be caused by this AT&T APN that has suddenly appeared. Since it is greyed out your best option is to do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this.
S6 Internet Using Wi-Fi/ 4G Unstable After Marshmallow Upgrade
Problem: Phone will randomly say no internet connection and will not load anything using internet even though it is connected to Wi-Fi/4G and has a strong signal. This started happening after I updated to 6.0.1. I wiped the cache partition but that did not fix this.
Related Problem: After the latest update my Internet is very unstable. Wifi and 4G is the same, different wifi is the same. It comes and goes. Some web pages doesn’t work. My email isn’t syncing. I often can’t even send emails.
Solution: If wiping the cache partition from recovery mode does not work then you will need to perform a factory reset. Take note that you have to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
