Samsung Galaxy S6 Difficulty Charging Fully Issue & Other Related Problems

Before the S7 was released this year the top of the line smartphone of #Samsung was the #Galaxy #S6. This device which was released in 2015 is still one of the top Android smartphones in the market today thanks in part to its use of high end hardware as well as a sleek design. While most owners of this particular model are quite happy using it some are having issues with the device. This is what we will tackle today as we aim to resolve the Galaxy S6 difficulty charging fully issue & other related problems.

S6 Difficulty Charging Fully Issue

Problem: For the past several days my 6 month old Galaxy S6 has had difficulty charging fully.  I have tried different outlets in the house to no avail.  My husband and I have the same phone but he is not experiencing this problem.  I have tried the forums online however, they appear to be written for technicians.  I would like step by step instructions on what to look for and what the technical terms mean.

Solution: When a phone does not fully charge ( maybe it just charges up to 85% or 95% for example) there are different factors that you should check which might contribute to this issue. Listed below are some of the steps that you can take to resolve this problem. Move to the next step should the issue still occur.

  • Sometimes this issue could be caused by dirt or debris stuck in the charging port of your phone. To eliminate this possibility try cleaning the port using a can of compressed air. Blowing into the port with the aid of a straw also works. Try to check if the phone gets fully charged after this.
  • The charging cord used and the charger can also contribute to this issue. To check if this is the case you need to charge your phone using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • Turn off your phone then check if it fully charges when off. If it does then the phone software could be causing this issue. If this is the case I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fail to resolve the problem then you should have your phone battery checked at a service center as this issue could already be caused by a faulty battery.

S6 Battery Drains Quickly

Problem: My S6 battery drains extremely quickly through the day, the only way to make it last a full 16 hours or so is to have power saving mode on. When it comes to charging it takes about 6 hours to fully charge, its very slow and is now becoming very impractical!

Solution: There are two possible causes to this issue. First, the problem could be caused by the phone software. Second, it could be caused by a faulty phone battery.

What you should do right now is to check if the problem is caused by the phone software. Start the troubleshooting by wiping the cache partition of the phone from recovery mode. This will delete the temporary data in the device which could be causing the problem. Once this is done restart your phone and check if the issue still occurs.

Next, try to check if an app installed in your phone is causing this issue by starting the device in Safe Mode. When the phone is in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. Check if the issue still occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t occur then it could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

One last troubleshooting step you can do on the phone software is a factory reset. Take note that your phone data will be deleted in the process so make sure to have a backup copy before proceeding with this step.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail then it’s very likely that the problem is caused by the phone battery. I suggest you bring your device to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Battery With Lightning Symbol When Charging

Problem: My phone battery died and when I went to charge it a battery sign came up with a lightening bolt on it. I turned my phone on and it says 0% battery then turns off again, whilst still plugged into the charger. I’ve tried charging it for ages and nothing changes with different chargers. I’ve tried starting it in safe mode but that doesn’t make a difference.

Solution: If the lightning icon keeps on appearing without any change then try to simulate a battery pull first. Do this while the phone is not connected to the charger. To simulate a battery pull you just need to press and hold the power button and the volume down key for at least 10 seconds. Once this is done try to charge your phone.

If the issue still occurs then try cleaning the phone charging port first using a can of compressed air. This will take out any dirt that could be in the port and is causing this problem. Once this is done charge your phone using a different charging cord and wall charger.

You should also check if this problem is software related by starting your phone in recovery mode. If you are able to access this mode then I suggest you do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy first.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail to fix the problem then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Stopped Charging

Problem: my phone stopped charging on all chargers except the white factory samsung charger with factory wire. charge is also taking over 6 hours to charge. before it was maybe half that. i cannot charge in the car anymore. everything was fine until 2 days ago. ive had the phone 2 months now.is it software related? or is my connector no good?

Solution: Try cleaning the charging port of our phone using a can of compressed air. Alternatively, you can also blow on this port using a straw. What you want to do is to remove any dirt or debris that could be in this port and is causing this issue. The next step that you should do should the issue still occur is to try to use the charging cord of the factory Samsung charger with your other wall chargers. This is to eliminate the possibility that the problem is caused by the cord.

One last troubleshooting step that you should perform is a factory reset to eliminate any software related causes. Make sure to backup your phone data first before doing this.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the problem then this issue could be caused by a faulty phone charging port. I suggest you have your device checked at a service center if this is the case.

S6 Shuts Off Stuck In Boot Screen

Problem: I was playing a game and my phone shut itself off. Then it got stuck on the android start screen. A soft reset doesn’t work at all. The screen will only shut off temporarily by holding power and volume down then it turns back on the the screen right away. I can get to the download screen but not any of the other screens such as the cache wipe or factory reset screen. Is there anything else I can try?

Solution: Since you are unable to access the recovery mode what you can do right now is to check if the issue occurs while your phone is connected to its wall charger. Connect your phone to its charger then try to check if it starts normally. If it doesn’t then check if you are able to access the recovery mode. If you can access the recovery mode this time then I suggest you do a factory reset. This deletes your phone data so only do this if you have a backup copy of your phone data.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center.

S6 Does Not Turn On

Problem: The phone started with what seemed like an issue with the power button. It was restarting frequently on its own. In a matter of hours it stopped working and wont switch on or charge at all. Changed battery and power button but still wont work.

Solution: It looks like the problem is already hardware related possibly due to issues with the board. Since the phone will not turn on at all then it’s best if you have this checked at a service center.

S6 Does Not Fast Charge

Problem: While connected to Samsung fast charger with cable, phone does not fast charge. To gain a connection to charge at all, cord must be jiggled within the slot regardless of cord or charger (numerous tested)

Solution: Sometimes dirt that could be present in the port can cause this type of issue. Try cleaning the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air.
