S6 Delayed Text Message Issue
Problem: I have had my phone for a year but just recently starting having problems with a large delay in other people receiving some of my texts. I seem to receive all texts sent to me promptly. However, some texts I send are received by the other person right away, and other texts may not be received until hours or days later. The texts are not marked as failed to send and actually that the text was delivered. Previously (like a week ago) if the text was delayed, the time/date stamp on my phone would change to correlate when the text was received. As of this week, the time/date stamp on the text is when it is sent and does not change to the time the text was received by the other person. I occasionally had problems with delayed texts prior to updating to Marshmellow, but only with one person. Now I have problems with multiple people. This afternoon, a bunch of people responded to texts I sent over the last 4 days all at the same time because they just received those texts. I am using the default texting app from Verizon that came with my Samsung Galaxy 6.
Solution: What you need to do first in this case is concentrate on the Verizon messaging app. You need to clear the cache and data of this app then check if the issue still occurs. You should also try using another app such as the Messenger app of Google then check if the delay still exists.
Another possible reason why this issue is happening is because of a third party app installed in your phone. To check if this is the case you need to start the phone in Safe Mode. Once the phone is in this mode check if you are still experiencing a delay in text messages. If the issue doesn’t occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
Some form of corrupt temporary data could also be the culprit in this scenario. To check if this is the case you need to wipe the cache partition from the recovery mode.
Finally, one last troubleshooting step that you can do is a factory reset. Take note that you need to backup your phone data first before performing this procedure.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail then you should contact Verizon regarding this matter as this may already be a network or account related issue.
S6 Text Message Fails To Send
Problem: Hi! Yesterday I noticed that when I was trying to text my mom to tell her I was coming home, the text message would take a long time to “send” only to give me a failed text message notification. Ever since then, every text message I have sent always gives me that notification. However, something I found odd was that my friend who also has a Galaxy S6 still received them despite being failed and he claimed his phone wasn’t sending his messages half the time. My mom has an iPhone and she didn’t receive any message. I also changed the message center to +35387699989 in hopes of that being the problem (I read it somewhere) but I have no luck thus far.
Solution: You should first change the message center number of your phone back to its original setting. Once this is done concentrate on troubleshooting the messaging app first by clearing its cache and data. Check if the failed text message notification still occurs. If the problem persists then try to check if it occurs in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by a third party app installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the issue still persists then you should consider backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset.
S6 Not Sending Receiving Group Messages
Problem: I have had my phone for over a year with no problems. Currently, I am unable to receive or send picture or group messages. Also, I cannot send text messages. It will spin and then notify me that my message has failed. I have tried sending to multiple people as well as myself without any luck. Recently I completed a software update, but the text messages did go through for a day after the update. Please let me know what I should try next! Thanks for your time.
Solution: You need to check if the APN settings of your phone are correctly set. Compare this with the one your network is using and make the necessary changes in your phone if needed. To send or receive a group message or picture message you will need a mobile data subscription and you should also make sure that the mobile data switch of your phone is turned on.
If the problem still occurs even after performing the above steps then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset make sure to check your phone’s APN settings again before sending a picture message or group message.
S6 Not Getting Text Messages After Update
Problem: since the update i’ve had issues connecting to my wifi but more importantly people are sending me text and im not getting them but half the time and its randomly when it happens. l called my carrier and they did troubleshooting and connection test and everything was fine and my phones in perfect condition. l was told to contact samsung
Solution: Since this issue occured right after the software update I highly recommend that you do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data first before proceeding with this step. A reset will delete any old software data that could still be in your phone which causes a conflict with the new software version resulting in this issue.
S6 No Text Message Notification After Update
Problem: I recently updated by phone to the marshmallow system and now I no longer get notification for text messages. Not on the lock screen, no sounds, not on the quick menu. The only way I know I have a text is to look at the little message icon at the bottom of my phone.
Solution: Try to check if the notification alerts for text messages is active. If it is then you have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This is a recommended troubleshooting step that needs to be done whenever issues occur right after a software update.
S6 Message App Has Closed
Problem: When receiving a code text like from alarm the stock messaging app shows message “message app has closed”. When I send group text same error. I STILL get an email@example.com that I received the text but no record. I tried other messaging app but same error. I have called samsung and sprint and of course they say do factory reset. Any ideas
Solution: While a factory reset will most likely resolve this problem this is the last step that you will want to do. Below are the steps that you need to do first to resolve the problem. Move to the next step should the current step you are on doesn’t solve the issue.
- Clear the cache and data of the messaging app. Check if the issue still occurs.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Check if the issue still occurs.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
