Note 5 Screen Is Unresponsive

Problem: My Note 5 has recently got problem on screen. The screen is getting Unresponsive to touch and only return and list keys on bottom of screen still responding to finger touch. However the pen still works and the only way to get rid of this screen pain is to restart the device using pen. But it’s not going long till it becomes unresponsive again. It mostly happens after I watching online TVs using google chrome. Not sure it may related to memory as still have about 8gb free on the device, or its os or software caused stuff. Your guidance is appreciated.

Solution: The first thing that you need to check first is if the phone software is causing this problem. Follow the troubleshooting steps outlined below to check if this is the case. Move to the next step if the issue still persists.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Try to check if the issue still occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it is most likely caused by an app you installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Try to check if the issue still occurs.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete check if the issue still occurs.

If the above steps fail to resolve the problem then this could already be caused by a faulty digitizer. I recommend you have your phone checked at an authorized service center if this is the case.

Note 5 Screen Not Working Except With S Pen

Problem: My phone started glitching and flashing like a hundred things were being pressed on the screen last night. Then all of a sudden it stopped working with anything but the S-Pen I can’t get it to react to myTouch. Very frustrating I’m a very busy on-the-go person and I lose everything so I will lose this S Pen then the in big trouble please help

Solution: It’s very likely that the digitizer of your phone may already be defective. To check if this is the case try doing a factory reset from the recovery mode. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this. If the issue still occurs right after the reset then you need to have your phone checked at an authorized service center.

Note 5 S Pen Not Recognized By Screen

Problem: My S pen is not recognised by the screen in the top right hand and bottom right hand corners of the screen. The sensor works fine on the rest of the screen. The screen in responsive to fingers in the right hand corners but not the pen for some reason. The phone is second hand to my knowledge the pen has not been put in the wrong way. Many thanks

Solution: It looks like the digitizer of our phone that reads the S Pen might be damaged in the top right hand side. The quickest way to verify this is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If after the reset the issue still occurs then I suggest bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Screen Does Not Automatically Sleep After Marshmallow Update

Problem: After the upgrade to Marshmallow I am facing an issue related to my screen.  It remains ON all the time even if the mobile is idle on my desk. To switch off the screen/display I have to use the power button all the time. My setting for the display to turn off automatically is 30 seconds and I have also switched off ‘smart stay’ feature in the display settings.

Solution: If you have already set the display to turn off at a specific time interval but it doesn’t turn off then this issue could be caused by the upgrade process. The first thing that you need to do is to wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This will delete the temporary data stored in your device which could be causing the problem. If the issue still persists after this then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 5 Screen Is Unresponsive After Cleaning

Problem: I cleaned my screen as I’ve done several times before with windex… small squirter in the middle of screen…and wipe with paper towel. During the day my screen started to become unresponsive  by touch either with  my fingers or stylus with a rubber tip. I’m able to use the stylus that came with my phone. I’ve rebooted several times, and reset my settings.

Solution: What you need to do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If the reset fails to fix the issue then it’s possible that the digitizer of your phone may already be damaged. I suggest that you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked if this is the case.

Note 5 Green Line On Screen

Problem: There is a green line at the leftmost side of my screen. When I take a PICT of the screen the line is not there. Sometimes the line goes away. If I scroll right or left across the screen the line comes back. fades in. When I turn the screen off the line is last to turn off. Is this a result of the marshmallow update or Mirror app install? Thanks

Solution: Try to check first if this issue is caused by an app installed in your device by starting the phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

In case the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then perform the steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail then this might already be caused by a defective display. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center if this is the case.
