Note 4 Will Not Power On
Problem: Phone will not power on. In your articles, everyone had a red light that showed up when they plugged it in, but where I normally got a blue light I now get no light. I plugged it in last night and it charged all night. Phone was functioning just fine yesterday, except when it went into ODIN mode and I had to remove the battery and put it back in to get it to work. Any suggestions?
Solution: It’s possible that the problem could be with the battery, the software, or the phone hardware. Begin the troubleshooting by following the steps listed below. Move to the next step if the current step you performed fails to resolve the issue.
- Clean the charging port of your phone. Sometimes dirt or debris that is present in this port can interfere with the charging process. Charge your phone for at least 20 minutes then turn it on.
- Charge your phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger. Turn on your phone.
- Take out the phone battery. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This discharges the phone circuit and clears out its RAM. Reinsert the battery then turn on your phone.
- Check if you are able to start the phone in recovery mode. If you are able to access this mode then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone. Restart the phone.
- If the above step fails then start the phone in recovery mode again then perform a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to do this only if you have a backup copy.
If the above steps fail to resolve the problem then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked as this may already be a hardware related problem.
Note 4 Turns Off When Flashlight Is On
Problem: Phone turns off when flashlight is on, I have uninstalled my flashlight app but also turns off when camera turns on the flashlight when taking picture. You can only start the phone by removing and replacing the battery.
Solution: One common cause to this kind of issue is a faulty phone battery. When the battery can’t supply the phone with the required power. Turning on the flashlight or using the camera flash requires more power which the battery is not able to supply. This causes the phone to shut down. Try replacing the battery first and see if this fixes the problem. If it doesn’t then you need to check if a glitch in the phone software is causing this problem by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data first before proceeding with this step.
If the above steps fail to resolve the issue then this could already be a hardware related problem. I suggest you bring the phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Will Not Power On Unless Connected To Charger
Power: I recently charged my phone using my fast charger from an outside socket. The phone was left for over an hour and had the sun on it. When i tried to start up my phone the first screen fires up and showing the samsung note 4 logo and then it switches off and continues to try over and over to boot up but just repeats this same process. I was on holiday when this happened and and found out that if i plugged the phone into the plug socket it will complete the booting cycle and can be used. In fact i am sending you this email from my phone with it plugged into the wall! I didn’t know if i have damaged the battery or phone whilst it was charging in the sun.
Solution: It’s possible that the heat from the sun combined with the charging process can affect the performance of the battery. A battery that is exposed to high temperatures when charging will usually not fully charge.Sometimes, if the battery has been exposed to high temperatures for a long period of time it could get damaged.
To resolve the issue that your phone is having try replacing the battery first with a new one. In case the issue still persists then the next step you should do is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This will eliminate any software related issues that could be causing this problem.
In case both of the steps above fail to fix this issue then this could be caused by a component inside your phone that is failing. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Shuts Down Does Not Turn On
Problem: Device shuts down and unable to power back up with 35% battery power remaining. Have performed factory reset with no improvement. I have two batteries which exhibit the same behavior. At first the device would power down at 15% but it has been getting progressively worse. Any ideas?
Solution: If a factory reset or replacing the battery does not fix the problem then it’s most likely caused by a component inside the device that is failing. The usual suspect in this case is the power IC. I would suggest that you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it properly checked.
Note 4 Turns Off Automatically
Problem: Its getting off automatically and after that its power key is also not responding I’ve to take battery out and then restart and some time that is also not responding I’ve to do twice and thrice to get started again
Solution: The best thing to do in this scenario is to check first if the issue is caused by a glitch in the phone software. To do this you need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If the reset does not work try getting a new battery then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then this could be caused by a component inside the phone that is failing. I suggest you have your phone checked at an authorized service center.
