Note 4 Screen Blacks Out

Problem: as soon as the phone call is activated (send) the screen blanks out. I have to turn on the unit to get screen up, but as soon as I punch in a number for menu selection the screen blanks off again. This didn’t happen with the previous version of android on this phone. I tried to change the display setting (Smart stay)  with no success nor  disconnecting the battery for 10 seconds worked. this was with no app running either It is next to impossible to transverse a menu on the phone. I’m not sure how to load the older OS on either.

Solution: Since you mentioned that this only happened with the new software version then this is what you will be troubleshooting first. Whenever issues occur right after an update the most likely reason is because of the old software data that has not been completely removed from the device. This old software data is now causing a conflict with the new software version which results in this issue. What I suggest you do first is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install anything in your device just yet. Instead, try to check first if the issue still occurs.

If for some reason the same issue still occurs even after the reset then try to connect your phone to a charger then check if the issue occurs. If it doesn’t then the phone might need a new battery.

If the above steps fail to resolve the issue then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Is On But Screen Is Black

Problem: my phone is on (i know it because i can still hear notifications coming in) but the screen is black but there are times when the screen slowly turns from black to yellowish (pixelated with other colors) i can even answer call since “home button” is my answer key i can even play music since i know where my music icon is located (i just guess-and-press) with my black screen. please i really need help, i can afford to have it replaced with a new screen and digitizer (as it’s what’s recommended by some) PLEASE HELP! Thank you!

Solution: For this type of issue I recommend that you backup your phone data first. Connect the phone to a computer with Kies or Smart Switch installed then do the backup. After the backup is done start your phone in recovery mode. If you are able to access this mode and can see the various options on the screen I suggest that you proceed with a factory reset. This allows you to check if the phone software is causing this problem.

If you the screen is still black even in recovery mode or if you are unable to access the recovery mode then this issue is most likely hardware related already possible caused by a defective screen. I suggest that you have your phone checked at a service center if this is the case.

Note 4 Does Not Turn On

Problem: My phone just turned off (battery on about 75%) and i tried turning it on the light would come on and it would vibrate but the screen remained black. I’ve tried taking the battery out, charging it, and factory resetting from the computer.  Nothing has worked please help

Solution: Were you able to successfully complete the factory reset of your phone using the computer? If the reset was successful and the issue still remains then this could already be a hardware issue possibly caused by a defective screen. If this is the case I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

If you were unable to complete the reset using a computer then you can try to start the phone in recovery mode then do the factory reset from here. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before doing this.

If you are not able to access the recovery mode then you need to have your phone checked at an authorized service center.

Note 4 Screen Became Black

Problem: my brother shot my phone with toy gun on the camera, then the screen became black since monday there is no noticeable crack on screen but i can see crack on camera if it’s put on sun. touch screen is working.Everything is working except screen.

Solution: Before troubleshooting this issue try to backup your phone data first so it won’t get accidentally erased.

What you need to do first is to check if the black screen issue also occurs when your phone is started in recovery mode. Try to access this mode. If you are able to access this mode then I suggest you do a factory reset. This is to check if a glitch in the phone software is causing this problem.

If you are unable to access the recovery mode then the problem could be caused by a damaged display. If this is the case I suggest you have your phone checked at an authorized service center.

Note 4 Not Turning On

Problem: Hi I have note 4, didn’t drop it or something,  one time when I wanna charge my phone it went dead I mean before it keeps turning off by itself, and I try to take off the battery and put it back on but still same, I call technician they said it might LCD?

Solution: It’s quite possible that the display could be causing the problem. Do you hear any notification sounds arriving in your phone? If you hear any sound then you should have the display of your phone checked at a service center. However, if the phone does not turn on at all then there could be other factors involved.

Try connecting the phone to its wall charger first and let it charge for at least 20 minutes before turning it on. If the phone does not turn on then clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol. Next, charge the phone again for 20 minutes using a different charging cord and charger.

If the phone still does not turn on then try using a new battery on the device.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Keyboard Appears Randomly On Screen

Problem: The Keyboard appears randomly even when i am not typing and I need to restart the phone to get rid of this. It’s occurring more often.

Solution: Try wiping the cache partition of your phone first from the recovery mode and see if this resolves the problem. If it doesn’t then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
