The makers of IM client #Viber have just pushed a new update to the app which finally introduces end-to-end encryption by default. This basically means that the app will now have secure chats that cannot be traced by anyone, not even the government. #WhatsApp introduced the same feature a couple of weeks ago.
In addition to end-to-end encryption, Viber has also introduced a new feature called Hidden Chats, which is a pin-operated conversation that can be completely hidden from the main conversation list. This basically means that people without the pin or password will not be able to see the protected conversation. This is a crucial feature to have, especially if your phone/tablet is shared with someone.
The company made the announcements on its official blog and was relieved to inform users about end-to-end encryption. It is said that the Viber team has been working on the feature for quite some time, so it’s good to see that it’s finally come to fruition.
