T-Mobile’s Mobile Money wallet service will be shut down for good in July, a spokesperson for the company has confirmed. This is not exactly a surprise given that Mobile Money was never the preferred choice of online wallet (among T-Mobile customers) even though it’s been in existence for about two years now.
This is precisely the reason why T-Mobile is ceasing services of Mobile Money as there are simply too many competitors out there. The carrier recently stopped refilling prepaid T-Mobile VISA cards, which as it turns out was an indication of things to come.
Although there aren’t a lot of T-Mobile users who rely on Mobile Money, there are bound to be a few out there who use it on a regular basis. For such users, this is the carrier’s way of mentioning that the service won’t be around for long. If you belong to that group, now might be a good time to start looking towards alternatives.
