According to a new report, the home button/fingerprint scanner on the #Samsung #GalaxyS7 and the S7 edge can be easily scratched. This is a startling revelation for owners of the device as Samsung’s home buttons have been traditionally pretty durable. It is important to note that last year’s Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+ as well as the Galaxy Note 5 also pack fingerprint scanners, but didn’t find any such issues.
This could well be an isolated incident though, so it would be unwise of us to jump to conclusions at this point. Part of the reason for the easy to scratch surface could be the lack of a protective layer on the home button. This is something that other manufacturers have done pretty well, so it seems like Samsung will have to start thinking about it soon.
There are a number of similar cases found online, so the issue could be widespread. Samsung hasn’t come out with a detailed explanation or a clarification on this particular revelation, but we hope to learn more in the days to come.
