S6 Marshmallow Update Causing Internet Connection Issues
Problem: Updated to Marshmallow, was having issues connecting to the internet so i decided to perform a factory reset after the applicable troubleshooting (sim card, cache wipe, reset, disconnect wifi/ reconnect, turn off/on data, switch to lte only). Still i am having issues, mainly in listening to music or trying to watch a video it will play for uncorrelated amount of time, then suddenly stop (to buffer i presume) but won’t ever reconnect. the only way to get the media to play again is to restart said media and hope it plays through.
Solution: Several other phone owners are having this very same issue. Since you already performed a factory reset we can now eliminate any form of old software data that could be causing this problem.
There are two factors that could be causing this issue. First is the Internet connection. Try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network then check if the issue still occurs.
Second, the problem could be caused by the apps themselves. The apps you are using might not be optimized yet to work on Marshmallow. Try to check if an update to the affected apps are available as this may resolve the problem. A third party app installed in your phone might also be the culprit behind this. To check if this is the case you need to start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. Try streaming a video or music in this mode. If the issue does not occur then an app you installed might be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
S6 Marshmallow Update Causes Gallery App To Crash
Problem: As soon as I updated to Marshmallow, everytime I open my gallery app it immediately crashes. No other apps are open so it doesn’t have anything to do with Facebook. I’ve gone through and deleted some of my photos. I’ve cleared the cache and the data. I have restarted the phone and none of these things have helped. It was working perfectly fine before I updated. All my other apps are working properly.
Solution: Right now the best option you have left is to do a factory reset as it looks like the problem could be caused by old software data that has not been completely removed from your device. Just make sure to backup your phone data before performing this procedure.
S6 Stock Messaging App Stopped Sending Group Messages After Marshmallow Update
Problem: After upgrading to Marshmallow my messaging app (the stock Samsung messaging app) stopped sending group messages—they all appeared to have sent on my end, but either they would only actually send to one person in the group as an individual SMS or they wouldn’t send to anybody at all. I tried messing around with all the SMS/MMS settings but nothing worked, so I switched over to Google Hangouts for text messaging and MMS worked fine; same with the Google Messenger. I really prefer the Samsung messaging app though, so if you have any ideas please let me know! Thanks!
Solution: Since the issue does not occur when you use Google Messenger then we can eliminate any connectivity related problems that could be causing this issue. Try to perform the troubleshooting steps listed below to resolve this issue. Move to the next step if the current step you performed does not fix the problem.
- Clear the cache and data of the messaging app
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
- Start your phone in Safe Mode. Try to send a group message in this mode. If the issue does not occur then a third party app installed in your phone could be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S6 Continuous Notifications After Marshmallow Update
Problem: When I installed the new update on April 4, 2016 it seemed to change all my notifications on my applications. Now my phone blows up constantly with notifications. Before the update, I would get a notification and that would be it. Now, I get notifications every 30 seconds unless I go to that email or look at the notification. During the night, it’s very annoying. I’ve gone through the settings and applications numerous times to find a setting for notification frequency but have had no luck. I have finally gone through all of my apps and set “no” to all notifications. This is annoying in the fact that unless I go to my phone frequently, I don’t know if I have a text or an email. Help — please !!!!!
Solution: Have you tried checking the Notifications Reminder setting of the phone if it is enabled? If it is enabled then you will be getting the notifications constantly at a preset time interval. To check if this is the case go to Settings – Accessibility – Notification Reminder. Make sure that this setting is off.
S6 Freezes Restarts After Marshmallow Update
Problem: My phone was working fine all day yesterday 4/13/2016 until 4/14/2016 around 3 am there was a system update. Since the update, my phone has not been working at all normal. I can’t make calls, any app i touch my phone freezes then restarts. I have cleared the cache and also troubleshoot it wipe cache with t mobile online customer service. Nothing is working.
Related Problem: Just installed the Marshmallow update and now my phone won’t let me do anything. Can’t text. Can barely open any apps. Also often reboots. Please help!
Solution: Right now I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This deletes the old software data that is most likely still present in your phone and causing this problem.
If the factory reset fail to resolve the problem then you should consider flashing your phone with its updated stock firmware.
S6 Wi-Fi Not Working After Marshmallow Update
Problem: Having updated to marshmallow I’m having terrible trouble with WiFi. All other devices in the house are working fine. My WiFi is fine (speed test 75meg). Sometimes it will work and then it’s like something is blocking the signal. Have done numerous network resets, and even did 2 factory resets. Very frustrating. Please help
Solution: Try to check first if the issue occurs when your phone is connected to a different Wi-Fi network. If the issue does not occur then there may be a setting in your router that is causing the problem.
Another factor that you should consider that is causing the problem is the phone software itself. Make sure that all your phone apps are updated so that they are optimized to work with Marshmallow.
You should also check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then an app installed in your phone could be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
