S5 Screen Flickering

Problem: Hi there, Recently for some reason i have wiped cache partition. And since then the screen started flickering. I have wiped the cash again. Deleted any downloaded app installed recently. Still the problem persist. But i have feelings the problem caused by wiping the cache partition from the first time. Thanks.

Solution: Wiping the cache partition of your phone should not cause the flickering problem that you are experiencing. If the screen flickers try to increase the brightness setting of your device first and see if this resolves the problem. Because this phone uses a Super AMOLED display it is prone to flicker at low brightness settings. Try to turn off auto-brightness then set the brightness level manually.

Another possible cause why the screen flickers is because of an app you installed. The best way to check if this is the case is to start your phone in Safe Mode. Once the phone is in this mode check if the flickering occurs. If it doesn;t then it could be caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the problem still occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S5 Screen Flickers Badly

Problem: My screen had very bad flickering and when I was turning the phone on from the lower front button it was flashing once then going off and being unresponsive. I did a factory reset after clearing the cache but the problem was still there. But, after reading on here it may be related to the brightness settings, I disabled auto brightness, and voila! The issue seems to have resolved itself!

Solution: Turning off the auto-brightness setting is one way of dealing with the flickering issue. This way the phone will not rely on the light sensor to determine the brightness the display should have. Sometimes if this sensor is faulty it will be giving inaccurate readings to the phone which oftentimes leads to flickering.

S5 Black Screen Display Cracked

Problem: I dropped my phone, the screen cracked.  The phone is still working I can hear calls coming in and text messages but the screen is black and I can’t answer the call.  Would a mere screen replacement fix this problem or could something else be wrong?  Insurance cost $150 to replace and I can’t afford to buy a new phone or pay the insurance.  I can live with a cracked screen but I need the screen to work.  Please let me know if you can help.  Thank you.

Solution: If your phone is getting notifications then there is a big possibility that the only defect of the device is its display. I suggest you go ahead with the screen replacement.

S5 Screen Flickering After Phone Dropped In Water

Problem: My phone fell in water and got a charging default and I took it for fixing but when it came back the screen is flickering all the time

Solution: It’s possible that  the problem could be caused by a water damaged display. Before bringing your phone to an authorized service center for checking make sure to perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below as it may resolve the issue.

  • Turn off the auto-brightness setting of the phone and increase its brightness level.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue still occurs. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S5 Screen Flashes Orange Black

Problem: When i power my screen on from sleep mode, the screen will sometimes flash orange and then go black for a few seconds and then take me back to my lockscreen. If i do a soft reset, the problem goes away for a day or two then comes back. What is this?

Solution: If a soft reset temporarily fixes the issue then it could probably be caused by a form of corrupt data. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from recovery mode first then check if the problem still occurs. If it does then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S5 Bottom Screen Flickers

Problem: The bottom 2/3 of my screen flickers and sometimes flickers with a green light. Like it’s malfunctioning or something.. it only occurs on the lowest brightness level. My warranty is still good, should I send it in?

Solution: If you still have warranty left on the device then I suggest you use it since this issue does not happen if the device works properly. You should however do some troubleshooting first and see if it can be resolved in your end.

For starters, you need to wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This deletes the temporary data stored in your device that could be causing this issue.

Next, start your phone in Safe Mode. This allows you to check if the problem is caused by an app you installed in your device. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Finally, to check if the phone software is causing this problem you need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S5 Screen Does Not Wake Up

Problem: My galaxy s5 is giving me a problem with its screen issue..! Basically sometimes the screen doesn’t turn on when i try it to unlock the s5 just the soft key lights blinks… but the screen doesn’t wake up but it seems like all the actions are been working like the sound effects, taking screenshots or increasing the volume..!

I have tried many tricks  to fix this issue such as

  • I have tried factory reset.
  • I have wiped cache partition & dalvik cache too.
  • Booted my galaxy S5 into safe mode.
  • Re-installed the firmware from sammobile.
  • Removed my battery and pressed power button for a minute..

But nothing worked. But i can temporarily fix this by re-inserting my battery or Hard restarting my galaxy s5 …  which is soo annoying.I need a permanent solution for this problem.. so please help me. Thank You in Advance

Solution: Since you already performed most of the troubleshooting steps for this type of problem it appears that this may already be hardware related possibly caused by a faulty display or display driver. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
