S5 Lag In Sending Message

Problem: I click on my messages and it takes much longer than it used to to open. Once opened I click on desired contact, again takes much longer to switch. Type in message and send then does several screen adjustments before sending message and taking forever. I thought it might be that i have to many text messages so I attempted to delete some but to no avail it freezed up and didn’t delete anything resulting in having to close program and start again. I restarted phone and tried again with same results. This only started happening after the latest update.

Solution: Whenever issues occur concerning the messaging app it’s always best to clear the cache and data of the app first. Once you have done this try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This deletes the temporary data stored in the device which could be causing the problem.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Check if you still experience the lag issue. If the problem does not occur then a third party app installed in your phone could be the culprit. Find out what this app is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This is a highly recommended troubleshooting step that needs to be done whenever issues occur right after a software update. What this does is it deletes the old software data that could still be in your phone which is causing a conflict with the new software which results in this problem.

S5 Recipient Does Not Receive Text Message

Problem: I have metro pcs, but it’s on the Tmobile network. When I send texts, my phone says that it sent successfully but the person I sent it to never receives them. This doesn’t happen with every single text message. But it does happen at least 4 times a day. Hope you can help, Thank you.

Solution: If the text message is marked as sent by your device then it’s very likely already sent to the message center server of your network which in turn will route the message to the recipient. If it is not received by the recipient then three things come into mind as to why this is happening. It could be a problem with the phone, it could be a problem with the network, or it could be a problem with the recipient’s device.

If it is a problem with your phone here’s what you need to do.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue still occurs. If it doesn’t then there may be an app installed in your phone that is causing this problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Clear the cache and data of the messaging app.
  • Try to use another messaging app such as the Google Messenger when sending a text message.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This deletes the temporary data stored in your device which if corrupt has been known to cause all sorts of issues on the phone.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If this is a network problem here’s what you need to do.

  • If you have access to another SIM try to insert it in your phone and check if the issue occurs.
  • Contact your carrier regarding this matter.

If this is a problem with the recipient’s device here’s what they need to do.

  • Have them check if your number is in the block list
  • Have them contact their carrier regarding this issue.

Note 5 Can’t Send Or Receive MMS
Problem: I bought an unlocked Verizon galaxy s5 from Groupon and I can’t send nor receive mms. I’ve even tried to send it to myself. I have TMobile service. My data is working just fine (well as good as I’m going to get with tmobile in this area). I found t mobile’s APN on this site which is how I was able to get my data working,  because I couldn’t at first. I also made sure I’m using tmobile as the network operator. No error message, it just continues to say sending. What should I do?  I also can no longer use my keyboard nor data while on a call (I was able to use the keyboard once). Help

Solution: Try clearing the cache and data of the messaging app then check if you are able to send and receive an MMS. You should also check if an app such as Google Messenger allows you to send an MMS. If  the issue still persists despite your phone having the correct APN settings and having an active mobile data subscription then try switching between the different network mode setting of your device and check which one allows you to send and receive an MMS.

If the above steps fail then you should consider doing a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to make a backup copy first.

S5 Pop Up Message Appears When Receiving Text

Problem: Whenever I receive a text in the Messages app I have a pop up message appear that quickly disappears. I have not problems sending or receiving messages so not interfering with what I send or receive but annoying.  I have restarted the phone, removed some apps I had downloaded before this began including Waze and I cleared the data and cache for the app. I cannot figure how to get it to stop. Thanks Here is the message I receive (I screen captured it):bbrMessage on Receive()-Attempt to invoke virtual method ‘boolean java.lang.String.equals(java.lang.Object)’ on a null object reference

Solution: Try to check first if there is a new software update available from your phone and get it. You should also check if the apps installed in your phone are all updated. If your phone is already running on the latest software version and the issue still occurs then do the following steps listed below. Move to the next step if the issue still occurs.

  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This takes out the temporary data stored in your phone which could be causing the problem.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. If the problem doesn’t occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app installed in your phone. Find out what that app is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S5 Not Receiving Messages After Software Update

Problem: i updated my sm-6900FD device with software update and i am not receiving messages from friends many times but sometimes i do the problem is receiving messages from others. and some time when i send messages they can’t send and then i turn flight mode and then back on carrier network then messages send easily please solve the problem

Solution: It’s very likely that this issue is caused by some form of corrupt data. There are three troubleshooting steps that are recommended for this type of issue. Move to the next step should the current step you performed fail to fix the problem.

  • Clear the cache and data of the messaging app.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
