What happens in this case is that as soon as the message is being sent an error message will appear notifying that the message sending has failed.

S5 Fail To Send Message

Problem: This happens periodically and randomly.  I have full connectivity to 4g.  I send message, it simply states “failed to send”  no error message, no reason.  asks if I want to retry, I of course say yes, and it fails no how many times I try until I ultimately reboot the phone then it works.

Solution: This issue could either be caused by a network or software problem. Since you mentioned that a reboot temporarily resolves the issue this could either mean that the connection reset between the phone and the network or a software refresh fixes the problem. What you need to do first is to check if the issue occurs when you are in different locations. If it only occurs in one particular location then this may be a network related problem possibly caused by a weak signal.

If the network is fine then proceed by troubleshooting the phone.

  • Clear the cache and data of the messaging app. This will delete the cached data stored in the app which could be causing this problem.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This eliminates the temporary data of the phone which if corrupt can cause this problem.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Check if you are able to send a message in this mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S5 Not Receiving Text Message

Problem: I can send text to my friend who is with US Cellular. She also has a Galaxy S5 but I can’t  receive her text. We can call each other. US Cellular tells her that her text are reaching me I must’ve put her in spam. I haven’t done anything please can you help.

Solution: If the text message has been successfully sent to your device but you are not receiving the text message then you may have added your friend’s number in the spam list. Try to check if the spam setting of the messages app is turned on by opening the messages app then click on the three dots on the top right side. Click on spam messages then click on spam filter. Make sure that it is turned off. Once it is off have your friend send a text message again.

S5 Not Getting Group Messages From iPhone Users

Problem: My phone does not consistently receive group messages.  They do not even appear in the form of “downloading”.  I just do not receive them.  Specifically from the three other lines on our family plan.   I have done all the troubleshooting suggested on this website, but am still having issues.  Their phones are all Iphone 6’s.

Solution: It’s very likely that the messages sent by the iPhone users are sent as an iMessage. Have them send the text message as SMS instead. They can verify if the message is sent as an SMS if the text bubble is green and not blue.

S5 Can’t Receive Or Send Picture Messages
Problem: I recently purchased a Verizon galaxy s5 but I am using family mobile which is just t-mobile working with Walmart. Anyway, I already fixed the APN setting for t-mobile  and everything seems to work fine except the mms. I cannot receive nor send picture messages. Is there any other thing I need to do besides change the APN on the phone?  

Solution: To be able to send and receive a picture message using your phone you should first have an active mobile data subscription. The mobile data switch of your phone should also be enabled. You should also make sure that your phone is using the correct APN settings. For Family Mobile the settings are listed below.

S5 Deleted Text Message Keeps Coming Back

Problem: About a week ago this started occurring.  I have a S5 and use Message+ for texting.   I sent a group message out back in January but had it send to each individual person in the group so when people replied it was only to me instead of entire group. This message I sent keeps appearing in my text inbox all of the time now.   Just started in last week.   No matter how many times I delete it, clear cache,  clear data. Just keeps coming back. Thoughts on how to make this go away?   They appear multiple times a day.

Solution: Try to delete the text message while your phone is connected to a mobile data connection. It appears that the app may be storing the messages in the cloud. When you delete the message stored in your local device it gets deleted in your phone however not in the cloud since you may be deleting the message while the phone is not connected to the Internet. When  the phone goes online it again syncs the messages that are stored in the cloud back to your phone.

S5 Sending SMS As MMS
Problem: I’m been trying to solve the issue of getting my SMS messages to go to MMS messages as my girlfriend says that my SMS messages come in more than one text. I have tried calling AT&T my provider and they have been no help whatsoever. What do you suggest. I’ve tried clearing the cache and other reset options but that hasn’t helped.

Solution: Try inserting a picture in the message you are trying to send. This will automatically convert the SMS to an MMS.
