Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Fast Battery Drain Issue & Other Power Related Problems

One of the things most consumers look for in a smartphone is if it has a long battery life. If the phone has all of the latest features but then it won’t last a day on a single charge then the device is pretty much useless. The #Samsung #Galaxy #Note5 with its 3000mAh battery is a device that has a better battery life than most models available in the market. On average, a user will get around 28 hours of 3G talk time, 10 hours of web browsing, or 13 hours of video playback all on a single charge. There are however instances when battery related issues can occur on this device. Note 5 Fast Battery Drain

Problem: Won’t hold a charge.fast battery drain. Have not had phone a year. Use fast charge . Removed newer and used apps. In safety mode per droidguy.com recommeded. Still rapid battery drain  even if nor using phone. The only thing I can think of that I have done just prior to problem is I downloaded hungry girl diet app, played slacker music app (now disabled) I kept phone charged & played music all day for several days. I am getting multiple ads soon as I turn on phone.

Solution: When the battery of your phone drains quickly there are two common factors that can cause this. It could either be caused by some software issue or it could be caused by a faulty battery. Let’s try to check the software side of things first by doing the troubleshooting steps listed below. Move to the next step should the issue still persist.

  • Take out the temporary data stored in your device by wiping its cache partition from the recovery mode. Sometimes this type of data can cause this problem especially if it is corrupt.
  • Start your phone in Safe Mode. Check if the fast battery drain issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then an app you downloaded could be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then so a factory reset. This is a highly recommended step to deal with the ads popping up on your device which could be the culprit in his scenario.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail then I suggest you have your phone battery replaced at an authorized service center.

Note 5 Battery Drains Quickly Unless Connected To Charger

Problem: Since installing marshmallow update, my phone can be at full charge, and an hour later be down to 30%. It will also shut down even though the battery shows it has charge (has done it as high as 65%) and when you press the power button, it shows 0% and the power cord icon. As soon as you plug it in, it shows the battery is at 50% or higher. I have cleared the cache partition, tried safe mode, disabled apps, nothing works. My cell phone has basically turned into a 1990 corded phone, because if it’s not plugged into the wall constantly, it will last an hour or less before shutting down. Please help!

Solution: Since this problem occured right after you updated your phone software to Marshmallow and since you already performed most of the preliminary troubleshooting steps then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset. This is a highly recommended procedure whenever issues occur right after a software update. What happens in this case is that there could still be some old software data left in your phone which has not been completely removed. This is then causing a conflict with the new software version resulting in this issue. A reset is needed to take out this old data.

If the problem still occurs after a factory reset then I suggest you have your phone battery replaced at an authorized service center.

Note 5 Does Not Turn On Unless Plugged To Charger

Problem: Was doing my normal stuff when my phone just turned off.  At first it turned on.  But when I got back home,  I noticed the only way to restart the phone was to plug it in.  Now, the only way I can use the phone is if I have it plugged in and the instant I disconnect it,  it does.  Sounds like a  battery issue…  Your thoughts?

Solution: This could already be a battery related issue. If the battery is weak then you won’t be able to use the phone unless it is connected to its charger. Before bringing your phone to an authorized service center for battery replacement try to perform the troubleshooting steps listed below which might resolve this issue in case the problem is not caused by the battery.

  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This will delete the temporary data in the device which could be causing this issue. Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Check if the issue still occurs.

Note 5 Battery Drains Very Fast

Problem: Battery drains up very fast, what could be the problem? at 50% charged the battery takes less than 30 minutes to ran out.

Solution: This is a similar issue to one which we previously addressed above. What you need to do first is to check if the phone software has anything to do with this issue by following the steps listed below. Move to the next step if the issue still persists.

  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This deletes the temporary data in your phone which could be causing this problem.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the problem still remains after doing the above steps then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have its battery checked.

Note 5 Takes Too Long To Charge

Problem: The phone now takes forever to charge. When plugging it in the device usually tells me 5-6 hours and takes about that long. This was not the issue prior to the marshmallow update. It does not recognize the fast charger and i have 3 different ones. Have tried a soft reset.. Numerous restarts.. Cleaning out the micro usb port.. Need help!!!!!

Related Problem: When i plug in my phone to the original fast charger that came with my phone it says charging slowly use original charger. I have tried restarting phone and cleaning the charger and USB cord and using different cords and chargers. Same problem with all of them.

Solution: Cleaning the phone charging port and doing a soft reset are both good troubleshooting steps to do in this case. Since the issue still occurs you need to check other factors as well. Listed below are the additional troubleshooting that you need to do to resolve this issue. Move to the next step if the problem still occurs.

  • Replace the charging cord that you are using. This cord gets easily damaged especially if it is constantly coiled or bent which is why you should immediately eliminate this possibility.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If the problem started right after the Marshmallow update then this procedure is highly recommended.

Note 5 Screen Randomly Pops Up Showing Battery Statistics

Problem: A screen randomly comes up showing how much battery power I have remaining. comes up even when fully charged i.e.. 62% underlined with Please charge below. It shows a table indicating Available time for calling Internet and Movie watching. Occasionally it will pop up an app to download. I usually can go a couple days without charging but now I’m lucky if the charge last 6 hrs. without using in any way. I closed all the apps that were shown to be open. I do occasionally get a shared power app prompt that I close right away. I found the wizard app in my settings and deleted it.

Solution: It’s very likely that you might have installed an app that is causing this issue. Try to start your phone in Safe Mode and check if the issue still occurs. If it doesn’t then you need to find out what app is causing this and uninstall it. Another way to deal with this issue is to backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
