Note 4 Is Slow After Marshmallow Update
Problem: Ever since the marshmallow update my phone is tremendously slow. so basically my internet and and apps play store anything involving data is slow i did a factory and master reset i cleared all data and cache it is still slow i have unlimited data so that’s not the issue when updating system apps it takes 5 min when opening the browser it takes 3 min just to load the homepage and sometimes it doesn’t load play store force closes time to time and sometimes won’t load at all everytime there’s an update it messes up my phone can you help.
Solution: Whenever a major software update is released and it causes issues on the device then a factory reset usually helps. In this case though it doesn’t resolve the problem.
There are only a few other factors remaining that you should check. If your phone has a microSD card then try removing it. It’s a known fact that if this card has corrupt sectors it causes the phone to slow down.
Another factor you should check is if this is due to connectivity problems. Try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network and see if the problem still remains.
If the above steps fail to resolve the problem then I would recommend that try to reflash the phone software with a stock marshmallow firmware as there may have been issues that occurred during the update process that is causing this problem.
Note 4 Quick Panel Setting Not Available After Marshmallow Update
Problem: After installing the Marshmallow update i.e. 6.0.1, i am not getting the Quick Settings Panel in the drop down Notification Panel. The Notification Panel is empty with no icons and there is only one slider for the brightness level. How can i get back the notification panel where Wifi, Bluetooth, Mobile Data, etc icons were there previously?
Related Problem: I just updated my note 4 to android 6.0.1. And my notification bar shows no notification bar containing no quick toggles. Showing only brightness bar along with quick connect and s finder. Plzz help me with my notification panel also tried from settings also reseting it but didnt work. Plzz help
Solution: Several other owners of this device have also experienced this very same issue. In this case the solution is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This will delete the old software data left in your device that should have been removed during the update process. This old data is causing a conflict with the new software version resulting in this issue.
If you are still experiencing the same issue even after the reset then I suggest you try to check if a new software update patch is available for download.
Note 4 Not Sending Text Message After Lollipop Update
Problem: Switched the device to boost mobile with no sim card, sim card is being sent in the mail. Everything worked while on lollipop, once i upgraded to marshmallow i could no longer send texts but can recieve them.
Solution: If the issue occured right after the software update you should first check the phone’s message center number as this could have been changed during the update. You should also check if you have an active account that allows the sending of text messages. To verify these two you should contact the Boost Mobile customer service number.
Once you have eliminated the above as the one causing the problem then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This is a highly recommended step that needs to be done whenever issues occur right after a software update. What this does is it deletes any old software data that is still left in the phone which is most likely causing the problem.
Note 4 Does Not Stay In Silent Mode After Marshmallow Update
Problem: So I’ve got the “won’t stay in silent” problem. Put it on vibrate, then if I receive a call or make a call, when completed it leaves the phone in audible mode. You can actually watch this occur as the vibrate icon disappears on menu bar. Tried the system partition cache wipe. No luck. Did try the phone in safe mode and problem didn’t occur. The question I have is how do I identify the “problem app”? I tried restarting and the problem existed before I accessed any apps.. Any guidance appreciated. No apps downloaded recently, only occurred after marshmallow update. Thx
Solution: You will need to employ a trial and error method in finding the problem app. To do this just uninstall one app then check if the issue occurs. If it doesn’t then uninstall another app. Repeat this same procedure until you get to a point where the problem does not occur anymore. The last app you uninstalled is most likely the culprit.
Another way to deal with this issue is to simply backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Can’t Edit APN Settings After Marshmallow Update
Problem: prior to updating the OS (lollipop) to Marshmallow, all APN settings were available to edit using the MSL code. now, even with the code, everything is greyed out. Any suggestions on how to resolve. I am very techy but this one is stumping me.
Solution: A lot of owners of this phone on the Sprint network also have the same issue. It appears that this setting has been locked on the latest update. You can however check if this problem is caused by a software glitch by backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset.
Note 4 Not Getting Software Update
Problem: My operating system will not update. I’ve tried OTA updates several times. I have over 13GB available on phone. I’ve cleared cache, done a factory install and reset. I downloaded Kies and tried via that method after the install and reset. Kies says my firmware is up to date. Via OTA it says everything is up to date, but the OS is not updated. I’m still on 4.4.4. Any help would be most appreciated.
Solution: Some of the reasons that could prevent your phone from getting the latest software update are as follows.
- If your device is rooted.
- If your device software has been modified.
- If your phone is now being used on a different network.
If your phone has been rotted or if its software has been modified then you can try flashing the update manually to your device. Instructions on how to do this can be found at several popular Android forums online.
If your phone is now running on a different network then try inserting the SIM card of its original network then check for software updates. The SIM card allows you to access the phone’s original network servers which could trigger the update.
