Some of our readers however are experiencing issues with charging the phone. Note 4 Poor Battery Life
Problem: Well, one issue is that battery life within my phone is very poor, without charging it would die before the end of the day. But the main issue being that my phones seems to “eat” USB cables. Every Night i will be in bed on my phone while it is charging and slowly by slowly the micro usb part of the cable will get more and more loose until eventually it just no longer charges my phone. After it stops working I’ll have to find another cable to use and it seems to work just fine. Also I should note that my phone is slightly bent near the top of the screen but nothing near enough that it should affect the charging? Any fixes? Thank you.
Solution: Let’s start with the first issue regarding the poor battery life of your phone. I’ve listed the things that you should do to tackle this problem.
- Check the phone settings. If the screen brightness is at its maximum then you should try to adjust this to a lower set value or better yet just enable the automatic brightness feature. You should also check if any unnecessary services are running. These includes location, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, mobile data. If you are not using a service then you should consider turning it off.
- Sometimes some form of corrupt temporary data will cause this poor battery problem. To check if this is the case you should start your phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition.
- A third party app can also cause this type of issue. To check if this is the case you should start your phone in Safe Mode. Use your phone for a day in this mode. If the battery lasts longer in this mode then an app might be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- A weak battery can also cause this type of problem. To verify if this is the case get a new battery then check if the issue still occurs.
Regarding the issue of the USB cord getting loose I suggest you have the charging port of your phone checked at an authorized service center if this issue constantly happens. You might need to have this charging port replaced.
Note 4 Not Fast Charging
Problem: Just got this Samsung galaxy note 4 and i tried the fast charger for the first time and it doesn’t even charge it any idea? tried clearing cache i installed a few apps and everything updated upon start any clues on what’s happening
Solution: The fast charging mode allows the phone to charge to as much as 50% battery capacity in just a span of 30 minutes. Before you are able to enjoy this feature you should first enable it in your phone settings.
- Go to Settings > General
- Tap on Battery.
- Check “Fast charging”
Once this setting is enable you should use the adaptive fast charging wall charger as well as the charging cord that came with your phone to charge the device.
In case the fast charging does not work do the following troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
- Try using a different charging cord.
- If you have access to another fast charger then try using it.
Note 4 Restart Loop
Problem: My Note 4……. 5.1.0…..all it wants to do is turn itself on and off. it will stay on for maybe 3 seconds and turn off then on again for 3 seconds then turns off then on. and it gets hot.But when putting the battery back in it stays off just turning it on it’s like stuck on off and on. Please Help Me…I took excellent care of this phone thank you very much.
Solution: The first thing that you should do in this scenario is to check if the phone software is causing this problem by doing the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Start your phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. This will delete the temporary data stored in your phone which could be causing the problem. Restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs.
- Start your phone in safe mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then this could be caused by an app installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Start your phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy prior to doing this.
- Replace the phone battery. If the battery is faulty then there’s a chance it could cause this kind of problem.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail then this could already be a hardware related issue. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Battery Dies At 40%
Problem: My battery dies at 40% or under. Will be sending a snapchat or texting and it will automatically die. After turning off it continues to turn on and off by itself until I take the battery out. After taking the battery it will continue to turn on and off after I turn on once and will stop when it is plugged in and shows 15%- 20% left of the battery.
Solution: While it looks like this problem could be caused by a faulty battery I would suggest that you try checking if this is caused by an issue with the phone software. Start by wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. If the problem still occurs then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
If the above steps fail to fix the issue then it’s time to get a new battery to replace the old one that you phone is using.
Note 4 Discharging Fast While Charging Slow
Problem: I purchased my phone brand new 12 months ago. 2 months ago my usb cable that came with the phone stopped working so i switched to another cable and it was fast charging fine. Then recently just 5 days ago i plugged the wrong charger into my phone as mine and my brothers charger were plugged into the same power point (via adapter)and i accidently picked up his usb cable instead of mine his is not a fast charger or samsung charger. I got an error message on my phone that said my phone was overheating and had closed applications as a result. Now my phone’s battery is discharging at a faster rate and is slow to charge. Just wondering if damage has been caused and if the damage would be to the battery or the phone itself. Thanks
Solution: Have you tried checking the specific output of the charger you plugged into your phone? If it is below 2A then this should not damage the phone or battery as the adaptive fast charging wall charger of Samsung is rated at 2A. Now, if the rating is higher than 2A your phone will still be able to handle this since it is designed to handle a higher rating at a certain level. If damage has been done then the first thing that would be affected is the battery. To check if the battery is causing this issue then you should try using a different battery on your phone.
There are however cases when the phone software is causing this issue so you should also take a look into this. For software troubleshooting you need to wipe the cache partition of your phone first in recovery mode. If the issue still occurs then proceed with backing up your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Turns Off Randomly Battery Level Drops
Problem: i had problem with charge first it drops fast from 100-80 then 80 to 60 and so on till it reaches 25% then it starts to act weirdly so i decided to change the battery. After doing that my phone start to shutting off and it can’t be turned on until i remove the battery and replace it in again, and when i turned it on the percentage drops from 60 to 50% and so on so. and just like this though *hint* it acts like this when it reaches 70% or less otherwise no problem at all i also changed my battery two times till now any help or suggestion u can offer please ? and thanks in advance
Solution: Since you have already replace the battery the next thing you should do is to check if the phone software is causing this problem. You will need to backup your phone data first then do a factory reset. If the issue still occurs after the reset then this could already be a hardware related problem. If this is the case you should have your phone checked at an authorized service center.
