Note 4 Not Completing Update Download
Problem: My phone keeps telling me an update is available and has been doing so for about 5 months. I currently have 5.0.1 OS. My phone will download it to about 97% then say update could not be installed. I know I have plenty of memory left for a large update and I have noticed that my phones performance is lacking. Battery will drain very shortly, apps freeze, camera has trouble focusing, phone will shut off with plenty of battery. Please help.
Related Problem: My phone is constantly trying to update and the update will get to 99% then say the software update cannot be downloaded. It’s been doing this for a while and i’m not quite sure what to do.
Solution: Whenever a software update becomes available on a device and it is a rather large update make sure to download it on a stable Wi-Fi connection. You should also make sure to have the the required internal storage space to perform the update.
To troubleshoot this problem I suggest you try to check first if the issue occurs when your phone is connected to a different Wi-Fi network. If the problem persists even on a different network then it’s time to clear up some storage space on your device. You need to make room on the internal storage ( the microSD card storage does not count). Since your phone is also having issues with the battery draining and apps freezing then I would suggest you perform a factory rest. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this step.Once the factory reset has completed manually check for the update then download it again. You should be able to install it this time.
In case you are still unable to install the update then you might want to consider flashing the updated firmware file to your phone. Instructions on how to do this can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
Note 4 Modified Software Error After Failed Root
Problem: Recently i tried to root my device but it doesn’t go well.. or i you can say i don’t know how to do it.. so i’ve cancel the process in between.. and my phone went back to normal.. but now when i click on software update on my phone it show me this message.. “The operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorised way. Try downloading software updates using Smart Switch on your PC or visit a customer service centre.”even i’ve checked my phone by installing root checker application that my phone is not rooted.. what should i do.
Solution: Even if the root procedure failed it could have triggered a security mechanism inside the phone that flagged the device as being rooted. This could also be caused by a glitch in the phone software that’s giving a wrong error message.
Below are the troubleshooting steps that you need to do to resolve this issue.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done check if you are now able to get the official updates.
- Try to unroot your phone. The procedure on how to do this depends on the unroot method that you choose.
- Flash the updated firmware file to your phone. Instructions on how to do this can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
Note 4 Does Not Boot After Failed Software Update
Problem: during updating my software my mobile switched off and since then it works for 2 minutes then it reboots. i went to a service center they told my that the motherboard was damaged due to the software update interruption is there any solution??
Solution: If the phone turned off during the update process then chances are the phone software is corrupted. The best way to deal with this issue is to flash an updated firmware file to your device. Instruction on how to perform this procedure can be found at several of the popular android forums online. Make sure to fully charge the phone battery before performing this step.
Note 4 Error When Installing Software Update
Problem: My phone will download the update but when I try to install it, it will say error and reboot. I have try factory reset, clearing the cache from recovery, but I am still unable to update my phone. Thank you
Related Problem: I am try to download a 850.45 mb update . it downloads but when It starts to install it always say failed to install update.
Solution: If a factory reset fails to resolve the issue then you could have better luck flashing the updated firmware file to your phone. As for the exact procedure on how to do this I suggest you check out some of the popular Android forums online which should have the complete step by step procedure.
Note 4 Software Update Failed
Problem: When the software updates are downloaded it requires restart after the restart it refuses to take the update I get an error message then it says software updates failed. Just to let u know that I cleaned all cache and I had a factory reset but still the problem continues.
Related Problem: Software update can be downloaded but downloaded software cannot be installed. Even I tried it after factory reset my device, but I could not installed the downloaded software. What should I do to update my Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
Solution: Usually in this type of case a factory reset should fix the problem. Since the issue still remains after the reset then I suggest you manually flash the updated firmware to your phone. Try checking several of the Android forums online for the exact procedure on flashing your device.
Note 4 Device Has Been Modified Error When Checking For Updates
Problem: When I go to software update I get a message saying the operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorized way…but I’m currently with metro pcs but I got a t mobile galaxy note 4 on the metropcs network…
Solution: You will usually get this error message if the phone has been rooted, or if it is running on a custom software.
If your phone is still running on its official software and has not been rooted then the problem could be because the phone is an AT&T device running on the MetroPCS network. Try inserting an active AT&T SIM to the phone then check if the issue still occurs.
I also suggest that you backup your phone data then perform a factory reset. Once the reset is complete try to check if you are now able to check for software updates.
