Note 4 Lags & Freezes
Problem: Phone will lag, freeze and if it can’t handle a request it will turn off and and SOMETIMES turn back on. But i usually have to take the battery out for a minute then put it back to get it to come on again. I also get a screen with several lines of an error message starting with “Could not do a normal boot “(in red print) and ending in a pic of little android man with “Downloading…” And “Do not turn off target!!” Below it. Unable to take a clear pic of it. Wrote it down though and can send the whole thing if it helps with a solution. My replacement phone is on backorder and i don’t anticipate it getting here too soon.
Solution: When a phone freezes and lags it’s usually caused by an issue with the phone software and rarely caused by the phone hardware. This is why we will be concentrating on troubleshooting the software side first. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this issue. Move to the next step if the issue still persist.
Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This will delete the temporary data stored in your device which could be causing the issue
Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This will refresh your device and bring it back to its original condition when you first got it.
Flash the phone software with its updated firmware. Instructions on how to perform this procedure can be found at several of the popular /android forums online.
Should the above steps fail to resolve the issue then this could already be a hardware related problem, Does your phone have a microSD card installed? Try removing it and see if the issue gets fixed. You should also try to use a different battery on your device to eliminate any battery related issues that could be causing this. If all of these fail to fix the problem then I suggest you have your phone checked at an authorized service center.
Note 4 Freezes & Restarts
Problem: I own a note 4 which i have bought since 15 months. It work very good until last week. Last week i have started to have problems. Phone freeze and restarts in any application that i open even in home screen. When i try to restart sometimes it not restart without removing the battery and placing it again. Two times it has showed android logo and the message; ANDROID COULD NOT Boot NORMALLY….. Downloading something and do not turn off the phone. Please help me.if you can. Thanks in advance.
Solution: It’s very likely that this problem is caused by a glitch in the phone software. I would suggest that you backup your phone data first before proceeding with the troubleshooting steps listed below. If the current step that you performed fails to resolve the issue then proceed with the next step.
Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This will delete the phone’s temporary data which could cause this very issue.
Perform a factory reset. This deletes everything in your device and reverts it back to its original condition. Make sure to have a backup of your phone data before doing this step.
Flash the phone with its updated firmware file. Instructions on how to do this step can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
Note 4 Boot Loop
Problem: Today out of nowhere, phone went into download boot loop. Now the screen freezes and lags. I do not have a microSD card in and have not recently installed any new apps. I have factory reset and the problem persists. What should I do and what could have caused this problem?
Solution: If the factory reset fails to resolve the issue then the problem could be caused by a corrupt software. The best solution right now is to flash your phone using its updated firmware file. You can check out the various Android forums online for instructions on how to perform this procedure. Before flashing the phone make sure you have performed the following steps listed below.
Connect your phone to its wall charger then check if the issue occurs. If it doesn’t then you should try to replace the phone battery.
Remove the phone battery. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will completely discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert the battery then turn on your phone. Check if the issue still occurs.
Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
Backup your phone data then do a factory reset from the recovery mode.
Note 4 Not Turning On Completely
Problem: my phone wont turn on completely it turns on and off it takes quite a while to get it turned on and use the phone then it overheats freezes and restarts again
Solution: There are two factors that could be causing this. One is a glitch in the phone software or it could be caused by a hardware problem. Let’s troubleshoot the software side first. Follow the steps listed below to fix this issue. Move to the next step if the issue still remains.
Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This will delete the temporary data stored in your phone which could be causing the problem.
Perform a factory reset from the recovery mode. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this step.
As for the hardware side, do the steps listed below.
Try to using a new phone battery.
If the issue still occurs after following the steps above then I suggest you have your phone checked at an authorized service center.
Note 4 Turns Off Does Not Turn On
Problem: Boyfriend was in middle of texting me when his phone just shut off out of nowhere and won’t power back up. We went through recovery mode and cleaned cache out and did a factory reset with no luck of it fixing the problem. We tried entering safe mode but still with no luck for it just freezes up. In the top left the LED light is flashing blue and with a strobe like pattern. What can we do?
Solution: Since the factory reset fails to resolve the issue then this could already be a hardware related problem. Try changing the phone battery with a new one. Make sure to charge the battery for at least 20 minutes.
If the issue still occurs then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Kernel Panic Error
Problem: I’ve had this phone for a year. But I haven’t had any problems until a week ago. Today for the first time it mentioned kernel panic. prior to this it’s turns on and off. It also crashes and freezes a lot too when i try to open it from the lock screen or when i open an app. then it says that the mcc_read has failed. Also I barley turn it on, then I leave it on the counter on standby and when Im about to use it. It’s powered off or something because when I hold the power button it doesn’t power on until I take the battery out and put it back it then I might turn of properly or it will say mcc_read failed again. I never tried rooting my phone or tried modifying it in any way.
Solution: It appears that the phone software is already corrupt. The best way to resolve this issue is to flash the phone software with its updated stock firmware. Make sure to have a backup of your phone data before doing this step since it will be deleted in the process.
If flashing the phone fails then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center.
Note 4 Freezes Auto Restarts
Problem: My Note 4 has freeze and auto restart/turn off issue recently. I cant recall how did it happen. I have tried soft reset almost everyday to get it turned on, factory reset twice, but issue persists. The phone is unroot. Should I try to downgrade it to Kit Kat? Recently I found that the only way to stop it from freezing and restarting is to play music. Could it be a software bug? Thank you for your time!
Solution: You can try downgrading to KitKat or flashing to an updated firmware file. If this fails to resolve the issue then you should have the phone hardware checked at an authorized service center.
